mbalmr71 Posted February 6, 2013 #1 Share Posted February 6, 2013 Through an award program with my company I will be sailing on the Imagination this April. Hooray for the free cruise. I recently learned that they are booking everyone in our group in an oceanview. Not looking a gift horse in the mouth but, once you've had veranda..., right? I am wondering how to go about upgrading to a GS when our corporate travel dept made the booking, likely through an agency. I am also wondering if the group booking results in a significant savings over the published rate. The difference in rates on the website is about $300pp. Should I call Carnival once I get my booking info or will I have to go through the agent? I have never done a 3 nighter either and I am wondering if I should not just deal with the ocean view and call it free, particualarly since there the ship is in Nassau for half the trip anyway. I do love me some balcony. Rare shof515 Posted February 7, 2013 #2 Share Posted February 7, 2013 you will have to contact the agency, carnival will not help you and will tell you to contact the agency. The agency might not upgrade you, since they might of gotten a group discount with the ocean view
AdGuyMG Posted February 7, 2013 #3 Share Posted February 7, 2013 they might of gotten a group discount with the ocean view Unless the group is 250+ cabins, group rates are lower than FunSelect rates but higher priced than standard Promotional discount rates (like Easy Saver) and Suites are never offered at Group rates. ChefSusan Posted February 7, 2013 #4 Share Posted February 7, 2013 Like you, I love me some balcony whenever I can get one. However, if I am being given a free cruise, I would not look the gift horse in the mouth. I'd be grateful for the opportunity to sail on someone else's dime, and would take the oceanview. YMMV :)
Colorado Kat Posted February 7, 2013 #5 Share Posted February 7, 2013 It would be a hassle to upgrade, since they probably got a special deal the way they booked. I would save my money for another cruise. (Any chance you could do a back-to-back?)

Rare Essiesmom Posted February 7, 2013 #7 Share Posted February 7, 2013 I'm not sure the Imagination has balconys. Suites on Imagination have balconies. OP was talking about upgrading to a Grand Suite. EM

nlktx49 Posted February 7, 2013 #9 Share Posted February 7, 2013 Geez, take the free Ocean View and say thank you! Wish somebody would give me a cruise!!
gusandgidgetsmom Posted February 7, 2013 #10 Share Posted February 7, 2013 When we were booked with a group rate (wedding) only the bride could do anything even tho we paid seperately for our rooms. It was a real hassle to find out anything. It was back in the good ole days when if you saw a cheaper rate you just called and they gave you credit.
