Spam?

Recommended Posts

Today received an e-mail in my spam folder' date=' supposedly from Celebrity. It says An invitation to a survey. [/i']

I was afraid to open it.

Has anyone else received it? Is it legit?

Thanks.

"afraid"? why bother even if it was legit?

One way to determine if a mailing is legit: float your mouse over any links, but DO NOT click on it. Internet Explorer and most browsers will show the actual destination in the lower left corner of your screen.

If it doe not look right, trash the memo.

Remember, only the portion of a URL between the // and the / are the website. Anything after that is just a folder or page within that site.

So, http://www.celebritycruisescom/folder/page.html is OK, but http://my.scamsite.ru/celebritycruisescom/folder/page.html is not.

if you have a smartphone or table you are usually safe opening emails if you are not sure you can also copy and past the link into google then look at it as has been stated looked for tricks like a 0 for an O and redirections.

Where I work the security folks are always sending out fake spams to test the employees if you open it is send you to a link on why you should not open unknown emails, 3 opens and your manager talk to you.

Gmail has a pretty good filter to so if you have a gmail account send it there, or also if you work for a large company send it to your work email. My company spends hundreds of thousands of dollars a year blocking Spam so they should be able to check yours.

This article here is pretty good

It's quite funny, I thought the post was going to be about food being served onboard!

We here in England have a meat product called Spam.

I was having a daft moment.. :)

Right - I was afraid that since beef checks failed as a replacement for chateaubriand they were introducing Spam next. :D
