Does it matter to you if your cabin is port or starboard?

So for maximum sun on a west bound transatlantic should one choose port or starboard?

It would depend on the port of origin and the destination port (northern or southern hemisphere) and also the time of year, but most likely port side as the sun is in the south.:D

"My trivia research says that the word posh came from wealthy ship passengers. The term meant Port Outbound Starboard Inbound. Did they know something I don't?"

Supposedly came from English passengers sailing back and forth to India. I do believe that it has been largely debunked.

Port Out Starboard home. POSH

Crossing the Atlantic It was the Warm sunny Port side. (out) first & (Home) going back it was Starboard.

Going to India around S.Africa it was the cool side. well part of the way anyhow.

Mad Dogs and English men and all that "Pip Pip" stuff in the noon day sun.

Nice to know, may not be so relevant with modern ships, no class system on board and air conditioning etc.:D
