How do you call the players club? Cant seem to find the phone number anywhere. Thanks for the info! Cruising in November, we cruised in March and gambled every day of the 7 day cruise, so hoping we might have "something". Any perk would be nice!

I too Tom is trying to figure out the free cruise theory :)

Some people get free offers one for husband and one for wife and budget under $1000 for the week :)

Some can play $100+ per hand at BJ and lose thousands and get the same offer as the player that plays $50 a day and quits. You would think by now they would have a clue

We got a pretty good rate for a 4 nighter getaway next month but I don't see us playing much ,I will be saving the cash to play @ the hard rock in FLL

You can try and use formulas, calculations, receipts whatever you want to try and figure out how the offers are decided.

But in the end according to my PVP they are COMPLETELY RANDOM OFFERS all you need is to set up your player's account in the casino.

My PVP told me that he has seen offers to passengers that never even played after setting up an account to those that spend thousands. Recently sailed passengers and to those that have not taken a cruise in years.

Carnival has been sending them out for years, it's just now more noticable that they are appearing in combination with the new VIFP OFFERS.

When I received mine, I never got a mailing, my name appeared on a list and my PVP noticed it as one of his clients, so he called me. It also appeared on my VIFP offers on the Carnival site along with a few other really good $99-$149 p/p offers that I wish I had grabbed at the time.

If you have any they will appear under your SPECIAL OFFERS when you log into the Carnival website. You just have to be logged in to see them.

Completely random implies a shotgun approach -- just throw it out there and see how things work out. That's confusing, from a logic standpoint, but it's certainly possible seeing how the offers are coming out!

I'd like to think that I live in an orderly world, but alas I obviously have some rose colored tint in my lenses! ;)

CHAOS RULES !

If your PVP told you that they are random the cruise line really needs to fire some people and hire a staff that knows what they are doing regarding gamblers

I am not special ...but we gamble very often and spend a lot of money, why wouldn't this pay for the lines to give us a free cruise.I guess that's why we have 4 free nights a week at our local casino. This cruise coming up I did get a better rate through the casino though and $75 each in cash.I will make sure to ask the host or casino manager whats going on

I consider myself a very organized person and always try to find structure to things as well. I always seem to be subconciously trying to figure out "the system of things" looking at it from a business standpoint I can see the taking a "RANDOM" approach on this one though.

Here's my look at it..... Cruiselines (especially Carnival) had a punch in the gut over the past year or two with multiple unfortunate occurances probably leading to a lull of lower than expected bookings. By tossing out obvious random SPECIAL OFFERS is a good PR strategy in my eyes. It doesn't segregate the "big spender" from the "just for fun" slot puller. Logically by choosing the players club accounts it brings onboard more passengers that would more likely drop a buck in the casino. One of their largest revenue intakes per trip. Every penny counts, HAPPIER people onboard of a wider demographic while also creating a buzz of anticipation that ANYONE is eligible for a GREAT OFFER.

So the CHAOS in the end puts the rose colored glasses on everyone much like the lottery does when the winnings are high. Seeing that cruise line stocks and bookings are up today I think its working in their favor.

Just my way of making structure out of something random I guess. I'm happy I was one that fell into the random selection and you can bet I now am checking for any additional SPECIAL OFFERS daily. It got me back to the website as well as putting the word out to others, in turn getting them looking, and so on and so on.

Well... if they only targeted the higher level table players, there might not be a space for me at the table! (Glass half full at work) :D

Do you call before each cruise to ask what they can offer you? We've done this since we joined the Player's Club and we wondered if maybe that had something to do with it, as well? Maybe there's something to being actively involved and making sure they know you care what they can offer repeat customers?

I have no idea if this has any impact, but it may not hurt.

We've cruised with Carnival for years, and this year is the first time they've ever offered us free rooms. I think we just lucked out that we got two in one year. Total fluke that will quite probably never happen again.

We are absolutely thrilled, by the way.

Before each cruise - we usually cruise twice a year - I email Mike Bayone at Ocean Players Club and tell him when we're cruising and ask if we'll get any perks. So far the most we've received has been chocolate covered cherries and a photo coupon. But in the mail we do get offers of casino cash, and once we were able to take advantage of an offer of 25% off a cruise.

I just wonder if any of the free cabin offers would be out of Galveston? I don't think they have any trouble getting the ships full. We've always sailed from there except for once, a cruise to Alaska.

We're not high rollers, budget $300 each for a cruise. We've only cruised Carnival, we're happy with it. Maybe we'll be lucky and get a free cabin offer!

Enjoy your free cruise!

I have been emailing Michael for years and this cruise he gave me an 800 number to call .When I called they said we qualify for $75 each which was on our post card offer and if we qualified for anything else the casino host or manager will let us know while onboard

Not even the $50 fruit basket and a picture or strawberries. Really !!!

My advice is HIT THEM FOR TWENTY OR THIRTY GRAND this cruise. I'd imagine they'll take notice then... :D

I always see the glass as larger than it needs to be. (live within my needs) type of thing. LOL Its like just because you Qualify for that $600,000 home loan doesnt mean you need a $600,000 piece of property. :)

Absolutely - no need to live at the edge. Go ahead and find a way to borrow MORE money and get that $1M property that you just "have to have"!

(kidding here!)

I got that letter and the free cruise, too. I normally only go on one cruise a year, and the cruise I do take is with a big group. I spend MAYBE $100 a day, and yes, I play slots.

The letter came last Tuesday, and after I called my friend that is my normal cruise roomie to make sure she could go with me, I called Carnival and asked what my options were out of my home port. She gave me options, then I called my friend back to make sure what days she could get off work. She pulled up the Carnival site, and asked about a different cruise that the original PVP didn't mention, so I called on Wednesday morning and asked about it. Not only did we get on that cruise we wanted, we also got a balcony cabin!! Granted, it's an obstructed view balcony, but it's a balcony!!!! MUCH better than the inside guarantee that was mentioned in the letter!! The cost for each of us?? $51.21 per person..

And only 36 days until I can get on a ship again!!! It's already taking too long.. :D:D

  • 1 month later...

I got the letter a few weeks ago and got a balcony room for a five day in February. We've only cruised twice with Carnival and have never gambled a penny on board. Last cruise we had a GS and bought a painting in the gallery so for us I think it boiled down to what we were willing to spend. On the phone the lady referred to us as high value customers. They'll be disappointed next trip cause we're staying out of the gallery!

I got my letter back in August and had only played slots on our June cruise out of Boston. Scored a cruise out of Miami this November 9th on the Liberty. Balcony cabin on Deck 8, port side for the low price of $125 each. Really looking forward to the next 2 weeks going fast.

Is there an email or phone number to call? We have not cruised on Carnival for a couple years and things have really changed. In the past I always notified them we would be sailing and used to receive a free drink or points but the last time they said that program ended and we got nothing. We will be Platinum for the first time so I don't know if that helps. All we got in the mail was a coupon for 25.00 casino money for booking. We are already booked so I think it does not apply.

Brilliant marketing.

If they had a known "play schedule comp schedule" it would only inspire those who fall somewhere in those schedules, thus limiting the reach to the masses.

Reward those who bet small, those who bet large and those who barely bet and the word gets out, you are now tempting the masses who hope that they may get lucky, and hopefully land another loyal cruiser for Carnival.

They are struggling to fill the ships, so throw out free rooms to entice others to try their luck, no matter their play level, and it will be a win win.

I don't gamble. But I will tell you that on my next cruise I will sign up for the Players club and play a few bucks in the penny slots for craps and giggles.

Free cruises are a comp, as are the photo coupons, drinks, strawberries, fruit baskets, wine, etc.

It's not how much cash you put in, it's how much cash/credits you cycle through. I've put in $100 in a session that lasted 20 minutes. I put $20 in a session that lasted 5 hours. The casino will provide more comp points for the $20 session than the $100 session.

Based on the amount of comp points the casino creates theorticals which helps to determine how much of a theoretical loss a player will give to the casino. The better the ratio, the better the comp level.

Craps, while providing great odds for the player, earns comps at a slower rate.

I'm thinking that Ship casinos have a modified theoretical equation, but I highly doubt it's "random". There's always a method to the madness when casino profits are concerned.

You haven't gambled often on Carnival if you think they have a "modified theoretical equation". lol

Trust me, it's much more random than a modified theoretical equation. ;)

I'd say you would have to lose at least $2000.

I don't think they track your loses, just your play...Since you need to use your ss card on the slots the slot you're playing keeps a running tally of your play. Walk behind some of the players on the last couple of days and be amazed at what some folks gamble.
