We just got the offer. We booked on last day. We got the Freedom 8 day out of Ft Lauderdale on 5/24. We got an oceanview midship. There were no balconies left. We were married on this ship 5 years ago April. It's a different itinerary. We haven't been on a carnival cruise in 4 years. We don't lose a whole lot in the casino.

Just booked for Oct had to ask hubby "How much did you play in casino?" I do remember the phone ringing one night it was the casino host asking if my husband wanted him to save him a seat on the poker table.

Sounds like he might have been at a table with me on several cruises.

We recieved the free cabin offer and we've only sailed twice. Both last year on weekend cruises to nowhere for two nights on the Glory. We upgraded to an aft balcony for $50 each (over the free offer) so really it was $100 for the aft balcony room for two. By the time we paid port fees and taxes it was around $358.00 total for double occupancy. We leave this saturday out of jacksonville on the fascination.

I'm not sure how they determine who to offer casino comp/players club free cabins, but I received one. There seemed to be a lot of itinerary choices. I'll be cruising the western carribean for 7 days on the Glory out of Miami in May, upgraded to an aft wrap balcony for $442 total (double occupancy), with $100 on board credit.

I suspect it's like most casinos where a big factor is how much time you play, followed by your average bet. I only play blackjack, usually betting $25. I was travelling with friends and played for awhile every night. I ended the trip up about $1,200. My first cruise was the year before and I ended up about $2,400. So losing money apparently doesn't matter.

On the last cruise the pit boss gave me a drinks card on night two, which I tried to turn down since I don't even drink and someone else would get more use out of it. However, he insisted I take it anyway telling me "now that you've received this card watch, you'll get offers for cruises from the players club". I didn't think much of it at the time, but I got called, emailed and snail-mailed with offers in the fall.

It doesn't go by how much money you've spent - it goes by the number of points you earn. At 1500 points you get your drinks free in the casino. At 5,000-7,000 (depending on how long the cruise is), you earn a free 5, 7, or 8 day cruise (inside room) for 2 - just pay the port tax and tips. You can upgrade to a balcony by paying the difference or if there are 2 poeple with the free inside room, the 2 certificates can be combined to get a balcony. Last year I was lucky in the casino (each time on Splendor) and received free cruises which I took in July, September and this past January. In January got another one which I am using on April 11 on Glory.

We received this on our last cruise (my first cruise, husbands 3rd). My husband earned the mega points. We probably ended up losing around $1500 when all was said and done. Unfortunately we didn't book in time but we got the Pack and Play Offer which was better for us because it was cheaper than it would have been to upgrade our room since we were only offered an inside cabin plus the pack and play came with $100 OBC.

Not sure if this is correct. Hubby and I both got free cruises. I called and asked and was told we could of had a balcony and only paid port fees ect.

We were unable to take advantage as all sailings were before summer vacation. BUT we do not spend alot in the casino, but we do spend alot of time there. We never even qualified for the free drink! The casino has been very good to us. We will sit at a table and play for hours and usually break even. Our stragedy is bring 100.00 to the casino, when its gone its gone..for me 50.00 will last me about 2-3 hours at a table. We have done this every cruise and I think the most we ever lost is 300.00 one year on a 8 night cruise

We have received this offer a few times. I thought they were too good to be true. End of last year we received one and I told my husband to call and see if it was for real. It was!!!! We had a choice of quite a few cruises 5-8 days. From inside up to balcony cabins. There was several itineraries. We waited over night to book and the 8 night balcony cruise was gone. We ended up with a 7 night out of Miami on the Splendor in an oceanview cabin for port fees and gratuities only. You had better believe that we will read the offers carefully from now on!

You don't have to lose $2000.00, you just have to have that much casino play. That $2000.00 could be money you won and replayed; or it could be just part of the massive amounts of money you have won that you replayed.

This last cruise on the breeze march 8, they had stacks of lists of people with the offer. They didn't even leave it at my room, I had to go ask for it. Always go ask. In the meanwhile my sail and sign was 3400 dollars so I guess I made that 2k you were talking about. Hell one year I WON 5 k and the next cruise I went on I got drinks on us and 200 in cash, unfortunately it was a 2 day cruise to nowhere and then I barely played so my next cruise I had nada. The casino division irks me a tad.

i play the slots on every cruise but by no means would I consider myself a "high roller". We were camped at the lake and I stopped by the house to pick up the mail. There was a plain white envelope with the Carnival logo in the mailbox addressed to me. As we receive a lot of junk mail, I had placed this in the junk pile and actually threw it in the trash. But...something told me to open it - which I did and am certainly glad I did. It was an offer for a free cruise. I, too, thought what was the catch but went ahead and called the number. The girl I spoke with was such a joy. She first asked me what type cabin we normally cruised in (balcony) and then asked which month we preferred to cruise in (October) and then which port we preferred (any in Florida). She then proceeded to tell me which cruises were available for the timeframe I selected. I then asked what was the catch...and she responded all I had to pay was the port charges, gratuities, and cruise insurance. The total for the both of us came to less than $300. I asked her to hold that one for me while I checked with my hubby and when I called her back, a different cruise had come open (we were now going on the Fascination). I immediately gave her my credit card number and we were booked. A quick search using my airline miles had us booked to Miami and using my Hilton Honors points scored us a room for our pre- cruise stay. While on board, I received my free drinks card, and we received a free bottle of wine three nights at the anytime dining. Was quite impressed and felt really special. I had also received $75 in casino cash. I did go to the casino hostess to personally thank them for the wine, cruise, and free drinks.

We received an offer to sail on the Sunshine this past April that included a balcony cabin (7 day cruise), insurance, gratuities, port charges, & taxes for $700 for the both of us. Jumped on that one as well. I also received $75 in casino cash. When I went to collect my casino offer, much to my surprise I recognized the hostess from a previous cruise/ship and she remembered me as well. We chatted for a few minutes and then I was on my way to the slots. Shortly thereafter I received my drinks for free card. The next night, a plate of gourmet cookies was delivered to our cabin. The next night at dinner, a free bottle of wine. The next night, another plate of cookies. When I went to thank her, she then proceeded to tell me she wanted to send us to dinner in one of the speciality restaurants but the steakhouse was booked. Instead she booked us into the Asian restaurant where we received another bottle of wine - all compliments of the casino. The food was delicious and the wine superb. Nonetheless, I thanked her again. The last day of the cruise, I received a letter for 50% off our next cruise but we were unable to use it.

I am now looking at an offer for their premier cruise with $500 off and $400 in casino cash.

Carnival has been very good to us - we're Gold and need only 6 nights to turn Platinum. I don't know what their formulas are but as far as I'm concerned, please keep those offers coming!

Very well said. Carnival has been way more generous with there offers than any land based casino has ever been to us.

My level of play won't get me a second look in Las Vegas. Biloxi will give us free rooms and buffets but that is it.

Carnival we are talking free cruises, Premier Cruises, steakhouse dinners, wine and on and on.

My wife and I like to gamble. We are going to do it with or without the comps. So anything we get is icing on the cake.

We just booked a grand suite for late august. Total cost was $1000.00. If you do the math that is a $2600.00 comp, not to mention the drink cards and steakhouse dinner with wine.

Just curious how much do people spend in the casino to get these free rooms and discounts???? Are we talking $1000 a week or more?

I received one on our last cruise and maybe spent $500.00 playing BJ. However I tipped the dealers plenty and played a spot for them. When I won so did they. Ended up probably tipping $250.00 for the week including playing their tip for them.

Heading out on the Breeze in August.

:D

The key is don't change your style of gambling just to chase comps. Gamble like you normally gamble, at a level you are comfortable at and most of all having fun. If you get a comp great, if not so be it.

Last but not least do not play over your head with money that is part of your normal budget. We only gamble with money that is set aside for gambling because in all likelihood you are going to lose it.
