Day Room at Rodeway FLL

We have a late evening flight out of FLL in January. We cruise from Miami, but fly in and out of FLL (cheaper!). We have a day to kill, and have interest in a day room so we don't have to drag luggage with us all day. We could hang out at a pool and be happy. We have done the water taxi and loved it, but won't be repeating it this trip. Has anyone actually booked the $49 day room with Rodeway, as advertised on various websites? I'd be interested in your take on it. We just want clean, comfortable, relaxing. Nothing fancy is required! Thanks, in advance.

The only thing about the Rodeway Inn is it's cheap and convenient with their shuttles, but it's very isolated and it's not in a pedestrian friendly area. The only decent restaurant that's close is the Rendezvous across Highway 84 behind the Ramada Inn.

Thanks for the feedback! Now thinking about a plan B...

Have you looked into a car rental? many cruisers choose that solution. They utilize the area between Miami and Ft.L....beaches, restaurants, shopping etc. Just another option.

Those evening flights do add a twist to the end of a cruise.:o

In peak season, most hotels will not offer day rates ahead of time. Sometimes only day of since occupancy is so high.

I'd try and book a day room wherever you can. It would really be worth it. If you can, I'd try and go on the lux side and book something like the W or Lago Mar if they offer day rooms.

We reserved a day room for $49 and we're very pleased with the experience. Two couples with late flights. We decided to take a taxi rather than wait for pickup shuttle at pier and when we arrived it was a madhouse of departing cruisers. However we were greeted and checked in quickly and warmly (Kourtney, thank you). The hotel is pretty standard older motel, but clean and with all needed amenities for short stay. We were able to relax at the pool, have lunch, enjoy the air conditioned room, watch football, etc. Took the shuttle to airport. Impressed with simplicity and efficiency and appreciated the friendly, welcoming atmosphere (Izzy, Kourtney,Latoya, even the gift shop man!)
