Why take the condom wrapper to the service desk.. I would of just threw it away.. So you took the condom to the guest service desk and not the 100 dollar chip.... WOW if you gonna take a condom should of took the chip..

I thought that was an easy one. One was garbage; the other was not.

Personally I'm not too keen having things in my cabin from the previous occupants. I hope they follow the directions from their managers as to what to do with such trinkets.

A draw full of clothes tells me they are incompetent.

Gotta agree. Except for casino chips, I do not want to find anything from previous guests.

Clever and succinct.

I've done a few b2bs and it's always interesting to see what the cabin stewards haul out of the rooms that people have left. I think the strangest thing was a stroller that was left under the bed.

The strangest thing we've ever found is that on the last night of our cruise, our stewards were leaving the next cruisers goodies on a shelf in our closet. We thought it was ours until we got home and found xyz cruiser's loyalty drink coupon.

We have left things. The last time we had been in a couple of contests and ended up with 3 bottles of champagne during the cruise. Couldn't drink all of it so we put one with a note to "Have a great cruise" in the beside cabinet. It fit perfectly. I figured with the note, the steward would know we left it on purpose and the cruisers who found it would know why it was there.

Ok why take trash to guest service.. I would of just thrown away

Possibly to show the room hadn't been thoroughly cleaned by the cabin steward. However, then the steward would probably be a bit po'd at you for going to guest services.

this sounds like an idea for me. When I was younger (before ez passes) I would always pay the toll for the car behind me.

I heard a wonderful story about a husband and wife who were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversay with their children and grandchildren at a very nice restaurant (14 people I think). There was a young couple at the table next to them and they had engaged in some conversation with the couple. The couple were celebrating their 2nd anniversary.

After the young couple left the gentleman asked for the check. The waiter bought a note that said " we hope that we have lived and loved as much 48 years from now. Thank you for sharing this special time with us." The young couple had paid for their dinner.

I'm thinking how nice it would be to send an unexpected gift to the people who reside in the cabin after us. Maybe chocolate strawberries or something like that.

I did the toll thing too. Not always, but a few times. It was fun!

What a great story!

I love the idea and plan to leave something (casino chip, drink coupon, note?). I did accidentally leave my cell phone in the safe on one cruise. I didn't know where I lost it, I just knew it was gone. A little over a week after I got back, my mother called me and said someone called her about the phone. A guy and his wife were in the same cabin the following week and found it in the safe. When they got off the cruise, he looked on the contact list and found "Mom". After talking to him, he sent the phone back to me. I thought that was so nice that he took the time and trouble to do that!

We left something for the next occupants - our iPad!

This was a mistake, obviously. We stored it in the safe and since it's dark and flat, it was sadly left behind. We reported it missing to lost and found as soon as we arrived at the airport (imagine the shock, opening our bags to play with it at the terminal) and they said they'd call us if it was found or turned in.

I followed up with a few calls, but nothing. Looks like the next cruisers decided to start their vacation off on the right foot and treat themselves to a new iPad! Lucky them.

Our fault. Ya live, ya learn.

I guess taking condom wrapper to GS was to point out how cabin stewards were not doing their job properly

Oh and a side note, always have ICE (In Case of Emergency) phone numbers in your contact list on your cell phone. Besides real emergencies it gives a contact for a lost phone.

Before doing this, DH lost his phone last year and my father received a phone call because they dialed 'Dad'. Luckily, my brother was with my Alzheimers afflicted Dad when they called so DH was able to get his phone back.

A little different: We always leave our books and magazines but for the room stewards. We ask them first though, in the beginning of the week, and they really appreciate it.

I have done the same with left over cans of soda, unopened candy and snacks...stewards are very appreciative

I took the condom wrapper and also reported the contact lens, to let them know the cabin had not been cleaned.

As far as the chip, why take it to guest services?? you really think it would have gotten back to the person who left it? It could have been from any time before we got on the ship> As far as the condom, hopefully it had not been there that long...

Exactly the reason why. As far as the steward, he didn't clean our cabin very well. What I did not put here was there was also a big black hair in the goodies bowl in the bathroom. I wasn't trying to po anyone. But we tip nicely, and expect a clean cabin, especially on day one.

I think doing this is a much better idea than giving it to lost and found.

we (as in my wife) left all the decent chocolate that we had purchased on St Thomas in the fridge when we got off the breeze. It was a deliberate move(not) and I'm sure that our gesture of goodwill (ie she forgot to check the fridge) won't be forgotten by the karmic powers.

sob.. I want some chocolate....

I've done this several times at drive thru restaurants over the years. Very nice gesture!

A touch off topic, but once in the ladies room at the Atlanta airport I found an iPhone in the ladies room. DH is an airport ambassador and knows that if we had turned that one into lost and found it would have been put in a BIG box with all the other lost phones...it would then be up to the person to sift thru the box for the phone...instead we scrolled thru the contacts and called Mom...she told us the flight her daughter was on and we tried to intercept her but Atlanta is a big airport and by the time we got to her gate the flight was gone..so we called Mom back and got her address and mailed the phone to her...sad to say we never heard word one from her and we never receive the phone back...so we assume she got it..

In-laws left gifts for our DDs with Guest Services. We were embarking when they were debarking the same ship. They were delivered the second day.

We didn't sail with them because we weren't going to spend the money for a NYE cruise.
