Celebrity Formal nights in Caribbean

Celebrity's dress code policy is:

"T-shirts, swimsuits, robes, bare feet, tank tops, baseball caps and pool wear are not allowed in the main restaurant or specialty restaurant at any time. Shorts and flip flops are not allowed in the evening hours. As a courtesy to our guests, we respectfully require and enforce compliance with dress code at the entrance of your restaurant of choice. Additionally, guests are asked to follow the 'Smart Casual and Above: dress code in the Celebrity Theater for all evening performances".

So...you can wear torn jeans to the casino on formal night, you can wear non ripped jeans to the theater at night and so on. The Aussie was not following the dress policy.

Note the statement in red.....If your choice is to dine dressed in your own interpretation of the policy or your belief that it won't be enforced based on what you read here, then understand that on your cruise, it might just be enforced....and you have little to argue/escalate about.

I respecfutlly disagree, the Aussie was definitely within dress code as he was in one of the bars. The section above referring to shorts and flip flops applies only to the restaurants.

Any possible doubt that this section refers solely to restaurants is eliminated if one reads the full Celebrity text: "Shorts and flip-flops are not allowed in the evening hours but are acceptable for lunch." Ghstudio's posting has inexplicably not included these key words.

I agree, this isn't even an issue anymore, I can't understand what happened here.

Just saw this article in the Nov. 2-3 Wall Street Journal:

Fashion Has Finally Caught Up With the Canadian Tuxedo

Completely solves the Formal Night conundrum!

[Apparently no need to get alterations either -- any sleeve/cuff length will do!]

I beg your pardon but the theater also requires smart casual or above and realistically you very seldom see anyone dressed in shorts and flip flops in the evening unless they are upstairs in the pool area.

First Celebrity Caribbean cruise. On Celebrity Europe and Transatlantics many men are dressed formally or dark suits. What about Caribbean? Recently took RCL in Europe and was surprised how casually people dressed on formal nights.

Every cruise will be different.

A lot depends on the crowd onboard. For instance, Europeans tend to dress a little nicer. Do Canadians?

This Canadian's worst nightmare (okay, so it's an exaggeration) is feeling underdressed, so for formal nights I wear a dark suit, shirt and tie. Truth be told, I like the formal nights so this is not an imposition.

I agree and have said that a number of times but he was not in the theater, he was in one of the lounges. I was just trying to give the correct answer based upon Celebrity's dress code and not an opinion although I agree with your opinion.

It does not apply to only the restaurants...also the theater.
