What Diamond/Platinum perks were taken away with VIFP?

This is the only thing that does bug me (just a little ;))

Nothing else affected us at all --- just did 14 days B2B -- between us 12 bags of laundry was adequate. Makes you wonder why they changed it, did some people actually use more than that?

Between me and my wife we change clothes a couple of times per day and still only accumulate maybe 3 bags total for a week. And that is with accumulating several days of dirty clothes before we even get on the ship.

Dont see how people can abuse it that much other than offer to do laundry of their 27 closest friends.

.....

Would not be thrilled if we went up to the guest services line and found a bunch of FTTF people in front of us.

.....

How in all of holy he77 would you know?

Demand to see their S&S cards or count how many teeth they have?

Milestone was or is a one time cruise, it was replaced for the people that were past the 25 cruises with a one time Diamond cruise then you go back to Platinum perks, but if your Diamond you can have free wash done every day. We never use that more then 2 times per cruise so that don't matter. Slim pickens for Diamond after that first Diamond cruise.

Are you referring to this line with the sign that says Diamond/Platinum/FTTF ? It is no longer just for Diamond and Platinum. This type of attitude is what makes me want to make up reasons to visit guest services and wave my non-platinum card around while standing there.

The number of the FTTF people is negligible and blamed for much more than they could possibly cause. The number of arrogant Platinums is troubling.

You are exactly right. It is that arrogant attitude that gets me. On another thread one of those people stated that if there was a FTTF person in line ahead of them that they would make a scene and hope that Carnival would give them something free. Probably just hot air but it is disturbing that someone would even think that.

I hope they do. This Diamond would use that excuse to cut in front of the noise maker. :p

A couple of times in different threads old timer platinums have made disparaging remarks about the new platinums that made sure to get in enough cruises to grandfather under the old guidelines. The thing is that until 12/31 this year everyone that is platinum will have achieved it in the same way, by taking 10 cruises. I'm sure there are old timers that counted several short cruises along the way also.

As one of the new platinums I was looking at the before and after perks offered and if I had a choice to pick between the two benefit packages I would choose the new one. The only thing I think I might miss is the free entry. I don't spend money gambling but if it was free I wouldn't mind playing along for the fun of it. I'd rather have early access and luggage to my room though.

I expect over time the perks will change again as more people become platinum, diamond and whatever they come up with. Overall I think Carnival does a darn good job and am a happy Carnival cruiser.

I would be there clapping for you. If that were to happen to me I think that would be harassment and that security would be called by me. :D I wonder who would be getting a platter of chocolate covered strawberries for that type of incident.:)

My DH and I become Platinum on our cruise next month and to be honest I can't figure out what all the fuss is about. We cruise because we LOVE the experience and we would cruise with or without perks. The little extras that Carnival is going to give us are appreciated but I certainly don't feel that I am entitled to them. They are a gift!
What I think some are missing in this thread, the respect that you are giving in the past for becoming Platinum . Compared to the Platinum of now it's nothing . Courtesy isn't what it use to be , at least I have noticed the change.
Was courtesy one of the plat perks? I am confused.
Another change is the Canapés. Platinum used to get a plate of Canapés one night and a plate of sweets on another. Like you need more free food on the ship. I think the plate you get now with chocolate covered strawberries is worth more to me than the 2 plates from before.
I noticed that the canapés were gone, I rather liked them because they were savory not sweet. I gave the chocolate/strawberry portion of the chocolate plate to my aunt in another stateroom.

I like the laundry part of the perks, we were offered 3 bags for your 8 day cruise, we used 2. Give the bag in the morning and get it back the same day.

I saw your review on the Splendor in your wrap around balcony. Did you have noise from the nightclub below? Also, was it very windy on your balcony? Thank you!

The lounge below is actually the Punchliners Comedy Club, and we could
not hear anything from there. Our aft wrap balcony was not windy at all on our cruise, which is pretty much the norm for aft balconies.

Easily understood, just in general observations . Rooms not ready when boarding , Knocking while opening the door at the same time.
I guess they're too many plats now to handle the work load. Ice has become by request only etc. Still confused ?

But are you saying these shortcomings are isolated to just Platinum cruisers? On my recent Splendor cruise, I can't tell you how many times that when I presented my card, I was told welcome back or welcome home. Plus, I had none of those issues with my room steward. He and his assistants were as close to perfect as they could get.

Perhaps not, regardless to say I don't show my card often , never have ,no thrill in that to me. But yet still we're both Plats 20 or 30 days from Diamond.
Perhaps the first night aboard the ship if we had actually received a turn down service for the night instead of a meeting in the hall with two mints and the next day capers .

There is a change and it is noticeable . I'm happy things are good for you :)
