DS "Won" Free Cruise Bingo

Techincally, as he is under 18 (and I paid) he was punching holes in one of my cards on the last game of the cruise on the Navigator last week. He also said "BINGO" for me and we now have a Certificate for a 7 day OV cruise for 2. :)

Anybody have any experience redeaming these things?

I have a friend who won a "free" cruise from the blackjack tournament. Your redemption process may be different, but he was given instructions to call a specific Royal phone number to book the cruise. He had to pay taxes and non-commisionable fees, and could not transfer the cruise to a travel agent.

Congratulations!! I just won 1 on the Explorer this past week playing bingo. There are alot of black out dates, but we are going to try using it on allure or oasis to get the most out if it. Im calling royal tomorrow to get some ideas on pricing. You will have to keep me posted on how your booking goes.

That was pretty much our thought process as well. Currently Balconies are not priced much higher than OVs so we are hoping to upgrade.

I happened to win in 2011 on Radiance.

The certificate said "best available inside or ocean view" and I had to submit three dates/ships.

At the time Allure was the newest ship and was excluded.

I selected two dates on Oasis and one on Explorer.

We got one of the Oasis dates and were assigned a forward facing ocean view on deck 10 that suited us just fine.

Apparently, we could have paid to upgrade to a balcony but we didn't feel the need to. What a great opportunity we had to try a new and beautiful ship! Especially since we had been hesitant to book such a large ship. FYI, we loved it and did not feel that it was too crowded as we had feared.

Congratulations to OP nealstuber. I hope you will bring your winning son as a third passenger.

Congratulations to shelpt, too.

A long time friend of mine won a bingo cruise on another cruise line a couple of years ago. Theirs was also for an best available inside or ocean view cabin.

She and her husband booked the "free" cruise. They did have to pay the taxes and fees. While on the cruise they won, her husband won yet another cruise at bingo. Talk about sucking all the luck out of a room. :) Anyone is really taking chances when my friend is in the casino! LOL!

Congratulations!

We are going on one in 11 days' time :D. I won it as the prize for the 5k race RCI organises annually in St Martin but they put it through as being a bingo win.

You can look on the website for cruises that you would like to do. Narrow it down to 3 because you have to give RCI 3 choices and they will tell you which one you can have.

You have to pay taxes and fees and the normal 3rd or 4th person rate if applicable (we are bringing our daughter).

If you upgrade to a balcony cabin you will get your points. It depends on how much of a difference there is in price whether or not you think it's worth it.

You have to send the original voucher to RCI in Miami, so your booking is direct with RCI.

Since we're in Europe, I scanned it and faxed it to them and said I was sending the original by registered mail but they actually went ahead and booked it for me even before they received the original.

They ask you to pay whatever has to be paid within 2 weeks of making the booking, so even if you're booking ahead with final payment months away, they ask you to make your final payment pretty much straight away.

Congrats! We too won a cruise on another line, DH had the lucky card, and all we had to pay for was taxes and fees, less than $75 at the time. It was our first cruise, and we decided we used up all our luck then...I bit a slots jackpot, DH was lucky at the blackjack table, and of course the free cruise. Never been so lucky since! LOL
