Bermuda and Carnival

thanks. should have caught it when I had the chance.

They may be back. I thought I read that they pulled out because they were not allowed to keep their casinos open while in port. But recently, the Bermuda government voted to allow ships to open their casinos during part of their stay - after a certain time, or before a certain time. I cannot remember which. It would be nice to see that a Bermuda itinerary on Pride or Splendor when they return to Baltimore and NY in 2015 (assuming they come back).

PS: We just went to Bermuda this past fall on Grandeur. Loved it.

The last Bermuda cruise Carnival did got down to ultra cheap due to lack of bookings, so I doubt they are that eager to go back. Another reason they said they pulled out was due to lack of dock space on any day but Sunday when most things are closed.

My understanding is Carnival didn't pull out, per se. They couldn't get in with any preset schedule because the berths were already taken by other lines. Bermuda doesn't want more ships there and in fact, people there aren't thrilled with so many tourists. Of course people dependant on tourism as their livelihood would like people to be there.

Ah, that makes sense. When I was reading the threads about the changes in allowing cruise ships to operate their casinos, several posters mentioned that it might bring Carnival back, so I assumed that was reason they left. Not getting good days to visit would be more reasonable.

Locals never want too many tourists, but depend upon them for their livelihood. It is a dual-edged sword...lol

The only cruise to Bermuda on Carnival is a NKOTB charter in June. They cancelled the only summertime 5 day Canada cruise for it :-(.

Lol. No thanks

Thanks everyone for the info. Fingers crossed that Carnival comes back to Bermuda at some point

I think you are spot on as to the reason.

I think the Barbados Gov't. has similar plans too

but not sure about actual implementation.

Opening Times allowed are from 6 p.m. until 6 a.m.
