feenix Posted January 6, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 6, 2014 We are sailing RCL Independence - is there a cost to eat on the island, or is it all free (excluding alcohol?) I was not sure whether it was better to have lunch on the ship, depending on what is available and if there is any cost. Thank you!

Drinks are to be paid for .
CruiserBruce Posted January 6, 2014 #3 Share Posted January 6, 2014 And, in most cases, all the food comes from the ship, so don't expect anything new and exotic.
onyx007 Posted January 6, 2014 #4 Share Posted January 6, 2014 and it was as the others already wrote: They bring everything from the ship (even staff) and build on two places buffet places, but it will be like you would eat on board on one of the usual buffet places. (fried stuff, rice, and and and)
feenix Posted January 6, 2014 Author #5 Share Posted January 6, 2014 Thanks - if I am wanting something healthy like salads or vegetables, am I better off eating on the ship? Sounds like sometimes the island buffet is kabobs, tacos, etc, and I don't prefer a lot of meat or fried things.

Going in a couple of weeks and there will be 2 ships there so I'm definitely considering returning to the ship for lunch Colleen
Silvery Seas Cruiser Posted January 7, 2014 #7 Share Posted January 7, 2014 The buffet at Labadee has hamburgers, hot dogs, spareribs, corn on the cob, fruits, cookies, a brownie-like cake square. I think there is a mixed salad too. I don't recall any tacos, fish or otherwise. If you are very committed to a healthier diet, the food on the ship may be a better choice for you and will have a better variety of options. cb at sea Posted January 7, 2014 #9 Share Posted January 7, 2014 There is definitely salad and fruit, in addition to the BBQ fare. Mainly Burgers, hot dogs, chicken and the "sides".... The WJ on the ship will be up and running, if you prefer that.
