I remember back in the day you could get 5 cards for $10. that was when they had the old fashion bingo cards...now they have this punch out recycleable paper that probably cost less then .25 give you a 'package deal' for $40 or more....I do NOT play. that is like gambling to me...

I don't understand, isn't bingo gambling whether you pay $10 or $40 for cards?

those little machines in the casino where are you have to do is swipe your card $1 and you move the knob key in the hole and you can win money, ipads, dr. dre beats...ect...i had dayum near 30 $1 charges on my account!

sounds like gambling to me

I guess I don't understand why $40 for bingo cards is gambling, but $10 for bingo cards or $30 in the casino machine is not gambling?

I do not fly enough to be Gold by any means. I go to AA.com and I log into my AA advantage account and book my flights. Once the flight is paid for I go back to my advantage account and click my trips and then select the flight I booked. Then there is a link you can click that says change seats, a seating map comes up and you pick the seats you want. The only thing I could think of that would be any different from anyone else is that I have the Citi AA credit card but I seriously doubt that has anything to do with it.

I think the card might be the difference. yes, you can go on line and pick a seat, but the premium seats have an extra charge. I think I pretty much understand the policy, we have been flying AA for about 35 years. Both of our daughters worked form them: one daughter just retired from Sabre and the other is a ticket/gate agent in Florida with 20 plus years experience. I can't tell you for sure the card makes the difference, but I bet it is connected.

Im Not sure what you are confused about and WHY you are confused.

But i will explain....its about how much im ( ie me myself and I) am willing to lose. back then i didnt mind losing $10. Today I mind losing $40 for BINGO or slots for no return.

But my $40 could be someones else's $600 depending on what ones budget is.

.. I thought I said i got caught up in those machines...it was too easy. yes i 'threw' away $30. My point being its very easy to spend money at your own choice. Nickles and dimes had nothing to do with it...

all hearts and minds clear?

My 40 years old niece decided to try this the last night of our

Breakaway cruise.....for 'laughs and giggles'. Just $3.00 in she

won $500.00! If I didn't see it with my own eyes I wouldn't have

believed it!

Laughs and giggles huh?

....NO NEXT time...haha!

tiffygirl, you have me laughing over here!! Love your sense of humor!

Exactly, just like specialty restaurants or pizza delivered to your favorite bar, people choose to do these things, they don't have to and personally I love the choices. Im going on the Breakaway in Feb., Ill have to give that game a shot and see how I do.

With that being said someone (for that i despise him :D) turned me on to those little machines in the casino where are you have to do is swipe your card $1 and you move the knob key in the hole and you can win money, ipads, dr. dre beats...ect...i had dayum near 30 $1 charges on my account....LOL...they got me on that one.....! i was sooo close each time!!:D:D:rolleyes: then i got my whole family trying to win...that's how they getcha!!

FYI Tiffygirl, there was a thread about the Sega Key Hole machines not long ago and there is a lot of stuff on the internet. The machine is a game of chance, odds set by the casino, not a game of skill.

Really? Haaaaa Haaaa! Wait till I tell my niece!

Harriet

Very interesting!

Here is the thread--it got moved from the NCL board. Then I googled it and actually found the manual telling how to change the settings.

Since we are talking about nickel and diming let me put in my penny. Is there a location anywhere here or on the web that I can find how much they charge for everything (like spa) on the Breakaway :)

I didn't see this on their website...just incase I'm directed to there :p

Of course they charge for bowling, how many lines have ships with bowling alleys and if they do, pray tell are they free?

So if they're the only cruise line to offer a certain activity they should charge extra for it? RCI ships offer unique activities in the same vein as this with no additional fee: zipline, carousel, flowrider, ice skating, etc.

For that matter, what other ship offers a ropes course? I don't see NCL charging for that. It's just arbitrary it seems. I'm still looking forward to my cruise, but I won't be bowling. ;)

I think its because of the limited number of alleys, if they didn't charge there are avid bowlers who could potentially spend hours bowling. Just guessing. Good idea, don't bowl and enjoy your cruise.

If you would apply common sense you would get it. NCL has 2 bowling lanes on each ship.Ice skating, ziplining, flow riding and ropes course are built to handle more than one persons or the its over in a minute so you can have people on and off every few minutes. ..how long does it take to bowl a game??so the wait to bowl would be extremely long if free..then the masses will moaning and whining because they could not bowl, blah, blah, blah

Its pretty simple to understand why the charge. Its $5. Cheaper than a drink.

Apparently there wasn't a charge when bowling was first introduced and someone asked why they began charging at a M&G I attended. You're right, there were people spending so much time there, not just avid bowlers but others just playing around, that it created problems for the crew trying to manage the situation. There were even some altercations between passengers. The small fee fixed the problem.
