What do you buy onboard?

We buy about 5-6 bottles of booze to take home with us, any picture that turns out great (we spend a lot on pictures- good pictures to me are priceless), and probably 10 drinks a day between 2 of us. We don't buy things from the gift shops- we have way too much stuff and trinkets as it is

For me it's a Citizen watch. Between the discount and being duty free, I can't find a better deal on the mainland. Liquor is priced well and perfume is so much cheaper on the ship, ounce for ounce compared to buying retail. Also the Lancôme eye makeup remover is a a great price for 2 bottles. It the equivalent of buying one bottle and getting one 1/2 price....plus both bottles last me until my next cruise ;). Some of the other stuff is not worth it....ie the cheap fake gold and silver by the inch, the "watch and jewelry" sale, fake pandora bracelets, etc.

I also bought a Citizen Eco-Drive. Saved 200 over the Zales price, plus no tax, and 100 better than the best price on Amazon. They fit the watch to your arm, so you pick it up the next morning. These are not to be confused with the cheap knock-off watches out front on the table from time to time. It's a genuine Citizen with Serial #, carrying case, owners papers. They are an authorized dealer. It's now my everyday watch, and I've put up my Rolex for special occasions.

Having said that, one certainly needs to do the research before purchasing high end items.

We also tend to have a bar tab that would make anyone proud, LOL.

I buy drinks, pictures and some souvenirs. I collect shot glasses, Christmas ornaments, a t-shirt and inexpensive unusual jewelry. I don't tend to spend a lot extra on food but I do have to get some chocolate covered strawberries :)

Last year we bought the Pandora like bracelets, and I still enjoy mine. However we also bought the watches in the gift boxes, and discovered the one we gave to my son in law had a date dial - which actually was fake! Beware.

Stay away from those watches!

I don't buy much.

I already have too much junk.:)

By far our biggest purchase is LOTs of photos. Usually a couple of t-shirts. We don't do the spa or pay meals or casino. Might have a couple of drinks (during the entire week).

Our biggest purchase last time was our next cruise! At that time it seemed like 16 months would take forever to get here. Now it is only 3 weeks away.

Halfway through our third cruise I decided to try the "shots" that they peddle in the main dining room. They were all really good except for the one on the last night. That one tasted like robitussin cough syrup. The glass shot glasses are souvineer glasses that I will be collecting from now on.

On my last cruise I was with my son. My sail and sign account was much higher than when I go with a friend. It was last month and he had a birthday and of course Christmas. He fell in love (can guys do that?) with a titanium Citizen eco drive watch. What can I say...love the kid to pieces, so of course I bought it for him. I told him that what I wanted for Christmas was a nice picture of the 2 of us. I like the plain back drops...not the cruise themed ones, you end up with a more timeless portrait that way. Win-Win! His watch is on his wrist and my picture is on the mantle.

I have purchased 3 Citizen Eco-Drive watches on the shops so far. Like I said, I can't find a better deal on land. One I damaged the crown on...I talked to the employee that sold me my latest one on my last cruise and she told me they would repair it or replace it if it can't be repaired. I am taking it in March to see what they can do for me.

Virgin drinks, chocolate covered strawberries, a pen with the ship floating in it, lanyard for my SS card, maybe a photo or DVD.

Oh yeah I also deposit money in the casino bank. Very rarely will they let me withdraw!

I see I'm in the minority, but our cheap watches work wonderfully. We only got them since clocks are nonexistent on the ship, but I've been wearing mine for months. I also spent 20 minutes scavenging through the boxes for one that worked, so....I see why there are so many issues. :)

We also bought a few drink specials, the unlimited soda package, a photo, refrigerator magnets on-board and from each port, & vodka for the person petsitting for us back home. :) Plus a couple specialty coffees for me, some casino & spa money...and tips for the room service + our amazing room steward.

First cruise I went on, DH was still a smoker - I was able to buy enough cigarettes that the savings paid for the cruise. (10 cartons, 3 day cruise.) I bought nothing else but drinks.

Now we buy pictures if they're good, but not more than 2 or 3 at most. Also purchase liquor, and possibly a souvenir for DD if she asks, but something inexpensive. We don't spend much on board other than drinks.

I buy casino chips, sometimes I sell more than my original purchase, sometimes I get nothing in exchange for them...

We 'buy' video games for the kiddo, the arcade is like crack to some kids, mine included. Its limited but fun.

Most everything else we buy off the ship on the islands...

we have too much stuff at home already so we try to limit the souvenirs ... unless its something like art or something out of the ordinary that is a cool memory.

I could open my own store to sell t-shirts, don't need any more of those.

We get a model of the ship, and a Christmas ornament. I buy my wife the fancy coffee every morning, beer and cocktails, a photo or two, night owls for the children (we usually stay out until 11-12 each night), and any jewelry my wife wants.

Same here, have bought 3 eco-drives over the years onboard. Always cheaper than anywhere else and all 3 are still in great shape.

In defense of gold by the inch- I purchased a bracelet-sized length of "silver" with small dangling stars. It cost me a whole $12.00 and I wear it almost constantly, since March of 2013. My arm isn't green, and I love it. That said, I would stay away from the "gold."

There was an excellent sale on Marc Jacob's Dot. The large bottle is normally $72 and we were able to get it for $40!

We also purchase silly things like taffy, or ship-theme toys for our niece and nephew. We don't donate to the casino, play BINGO, and may have 2 or 3 drinks a day between us.

It's a vacation-make it what you wish. Just remember much like Christmas, the bill will come far too soon.
