Dare2Believe Posted January 15, 2014 #3 Share Posted January 15, 2014 HELP!! we are cruising April 5-12 out of Miami, will spring break in the USA be over during this week? I'm sure you're probably more worried about spring break from colleges..can't help you there. I work in an elementary school in NY and our spring break is April 11-21st, to coincide with Easter. I assume that will be the case for most K-12 schools, but I'm not sure about colleges..I think my spring break in college was in March..
guxu Posted January 15, 2014 #4 Share Posted January 15, 2014 Just check the cruise price. If you see the price drops significantly (as much as 50%) for your week, the spring break is over. Yes, Carnival knows the date. (Planning spring break cruise now:mad:)
michiganredrose Posted January 15, 2014 #5 Share Posted January 15, 2014 My kids are in high school and that is their spring break week.
CoconutJD Posted January 15, 2014 #6 Share Posted January 15, 2014 I'm pretty sure the majority of spring breaks are in March, but some schools push them into April. That's likely not the "peak" time for spring break, but there will be some schools on break at that time.
carrieluvsgreg Posted January 15, 2014 #7 Share Posted January 15, 2014 Many schools take either the week prior to or after Easter as spring break. However, I live in northeast Florida and our spring break is always the last week of March, regardless of when Easter falls. So, for some US schools, it might be spring break, but not all. KPfromCT Posted January 15, 2014 #8 Share Posted January 15, 2014 Spring break up here in the Northeast is the week of April 14 prior to Easter. I think most of the colleges and universities have theirs in March. Hopefully you'll be fine. :D
Caronrick Posted January 16, 2014 #9 Share Posted January 16, 2014 There was a thread on this a few days ago.. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1967412 Many people listed the spring break dates in their region. Hope this helps.
jgr8fulbear Posted January 16, 2014 #10 Share Posted January 16, 2014 A good rule of thumb is go by the cruise price, if its noticeably higher, its a spring break week Sent from my SGH-M919 using Forums mobile app
WAHMto5 Posted January 16, 2014 #11 Share Posted January 16, 2014 For our kids here in Georgia, it is the first week in April.
Colorado Kat Posted January 16, 2014 #12 Share Posted January 16, 2014 There will be kids with spring break that week, but probably not peak time.
abccruise Posted January 16, 2014 #13 Share Posted January 16, 2014 Massachusetts starts vacation with the 18th of April (Good Friday) and runs the following week.
Mscruiser53 Posted January 16, 2014 #14 Share Posted January 16, 2014 Generally, spring break time in the south is March, other areas, into mid-April. We always cruise in May. After spring break and before school is out. Prices are usually lower, also. That said, Carnival is a family line, and even with school in session, there are many children on board. I can honestly say that I've never even noticed them or any problems, annoyances. Carnival normally announces how many children are on board and I am always surprised. I'm sure you will enjoy your cruise!
Crusin6 Posted January 16, 2014 #15 Share Posted January 16, 2014 (edited) Colleges will be done for the most part except for maybe a few. But the majority will be over High schools and below will in the vast majority of cases have the week before Easter April 20 or the week after Easter off. Of course parents of young kids like 8 and under and those home schoolers will travel as they please and will look for the best week and price. Which of course may coincide with your week Edited January 16, 2014 by Crusin6

daddybuff Posted January 16, 2014 #17 Share Posted January 16, 2014 Most schools in Ohio this year are off the last week of March or the first week of April. My wife is a teacher and she is off the last week of March but our grandkids are off the first week of April:confused:

KatieCharlotte Posted January 16, 2014 #19 Share Posted January 16, 2014 That's our state's public schools spring break week. We'll be cruising too. But, spring breaks are spread throughout March and April. I noticed that this was not one of the most expensive spring weeks when we booked, so I'm thinking it's not a peak week for spring breaks. It's between the March breaks and the Easter week breaks. If you're just worried about college kids, their breaks are usually from the end of Feb to the end of March.
