Kids' C&A status

Recommended Posts

I would call C&A and get your numbers set up for RC. We sailed RC before we sailed X so just rang to get our numbers) they should set you up and should be able to assist with DD as well.

Let us know how you get on

Thanks! My dd must have a CC number bc she is showing as elite for our X sailing. Once we sail X, I will call C&A.

I wouldn't say spoiled at all. Traveling is an education in itself. My parents took me with them everywhere. By 25 i had been to all 7 continents, and my brother was 21 when he hit all seven. I feel that all the traveling molded me into who i am today and am grateful for the opportunities I was given to see so many places and cultures.

Agreed:) we know plenty of families that go skiing every year, or do multiple Disney vacations every year. That's fine because that's what works for them. To us we like to experience different things, and then once we are finished go back, start again and have fun comparing the changes.

When I referred to my daughter as spoiled, it was tongue in cheek. We are blessed to be able to give her cruises she will remember for a lifetime. I think all these kids are very fortunate. :)

I never interpreted it otherwise. Mine was tongue in cheek as well. It makes me laugh that people tell me she's spoiled going on so many cruises, my answer, we don't do land holidays instead:D we just like sea as opposed to land holidays and see more of the world in the process!

Agree very lucky to share the world with her!

Spurchick,

You have to add your kid as "household member" to your MyCruises account.

Then just recently there was a link asking me whether I want to open up an own MyCruises account for my DD (only past cruises and points can be seen, nothing else what she can do). So I opened up an account for her (didn´t work on the first try). When I log in my DDs account I can see her past cruises plus points.

Both of mine will be diamond (by their own earned nights) by the end of this year. They are 15 and 17 and we started sailing Royal over Easter 2011.

They are also both Platinum (the top tier) on Disney Cruise Line.

We like to sail :D

So I am 27, and from the ages of 17-19 have cruised with my parents, but they also well into my early 20's cruised without me, including some JS trips, bumping my status to Emerald with 69 points (despite my only being at sea with RCI for 20 nights, all in non-suite accommodations). My C&A number has my home address listed as my current address, not my parents' house. Also, there was no C&A for children when I was under 18, and never joined until I was 19. It seems my unique situation has made it so my points never reverted back to only those earned with myself onboard.

I am currently booked for my honeymoon cruise, and my fiancee has never sailed with RCI, so she won't be able to join C&A until we get back. The thing is, I am now afraid to link her to my account once she joins, since it may alert RCI to their error (still showing me as having 69 points as opposed to 20). I know it's a silly thing to get bent out of shape over, but if I keep flying under the radar, I'll be a short 4-nighter away from diamond after this next cruise, but it'll be a long way back up if I'm knocked back to 20 (27 after the next one).

I also realize they could catch the error at any time and revert me without trying to link anything, but anyone here want to weigh in on whether it would be worth joining C&A accounts with my future wife and risk us both dropping down to platinum, or continue on as it is, hoping to hit diamond just myself and sharing whatever perks are sharable?

I know nothing about this stuff (compared to others here), but what I usually read is that C&A rarely demotes people's level, they may just reset points. My thoughts would be to get yourself to Diamond and then link her once you're established as Diamond.

We had transferable status, DD included, however if you sail Celebrity you don't receive points with RC neither do your RC points transfer to Celebrity. Your status levels are transferable but points are not combinable, which is a shame as DD has also sailed celebrity but neither of us get credit for that with RC. Like your children having their points reverted to what they have cruised when they turn 18, whatever status they have with. RC is what level they will get their cards with Celebrity.

Your kids would need to work out who they would have the most points with and get their status based on that.

Yes, I realise that, however I find it very strange that Celebrity, who issued the Captain's Club numbers in the first place, are now saying under 18s shouldn't have a CC number (or card for that matter - which we were all issued a few years ago).

We are all Diamond on Royal and so are Elite on X. However the point I was making, is that I don't want them to lose their X points from previous cruises they have taken on Celebrity ships just because they were children when they sailed i.e. they will have accumulated quite a few Celebrity points, but I am concerned their record, as they now don't have CC numbers, will be lost or incorrect when they reach 18 - hence me attempting to keep a 'hard' copy from their sailings ;) (the Royal points are a totally different tally and they will be at least Diamond Plus by 18).

Sorry if I slightly misunderstood you.

What was explained to me is the points accumulate with X but children don't get perks on X like the books they receive on RC. That was the main difference but they still get credit.

Forgot to say that is the main difference is as I understand, RC only recently started issuing children with on board perks (coupon books). My understanding was as X do not offer the onboard perks ( wrt coupons) they didn't want minors to slip under the radar and accidentally receive the coupon books due to them containing alcohol and casino coupons. It was more a legal issue regarding the coupons as opposed to them not gaining points for sailing.

Kids did have their own coupon book with RCI for years. It was a special kids´ coupon book not differing with the status.

Funny thing was, last time on the Navigator my DD (in a separate cabin with my mom) got the kids´ coupon book plus the adult one (no it wasn´t for my mom as it was her first cruise).

Royal have been issuing the kids' booklets for quite a few years now, but X, probably being more geared to adults, have never issued booklets for kids.

My concern was there are already some that are having to prove sailings that are not showing on their children's CC record of cruises when they become old enough to register; which is why I wanted to point out that it may be wise to keep some sort of 'hard' evidence e.g.wristband, welcome aboard photo, booking form etc. from each sailing - just in case they need to prove it when they reach 18 ;). Not a big deal, but it would be a shame if it meant they couldn't rise to the next club level because of a few missing points ;).

Hardingk,

When we first registered for Celebrity a few years ago, they gave us all CC numbers (including the kids ). Obviously, we didn't query this because we were used to all having numbers on Royal so thought that Celebrity did the same. It was only a few months ago when I was enquiring about prices for other cruises that X said the kids should have never been issued with CC numbers (strange as they issued them knowing the kids' DOB). Will be interesting to see if they 'keep' their original numbers when they apply for registration when they reach 18 ;).

You will need to register your DD before you cruise on Royal :).

I would probably wait until you turn D, and then link your accounts.

Thanks for the info

I will try again. I clicked on enroll members of household. I can see her listed that's it. Can't set her as as her own account as said she's a minor. I'll keep trying:D

I guess my recent isn't that recent:)

When Dd started cruising they didn't do coupons. I know she gets now but can't remember exactly when they introduced. Anything in her lifetime is recent to me:D

Regarding proof of sailing, we have always kept all our room keys with our names on. I have a drawer dedicated to them.

Agree on a list as well, but I'm sure when they turn 18 everything will be fine. I would hope their technology is better able to cope with this these days.
