VIP check-in

The only thing I remember about checking in as a VIP in Southampton was the special line. No roses or being escorted to the ship or Michael's Club, and we were on a Royal Suite. We were traveling with a group of friends, some in regular or concierge cabins, and we made it to the ship at the same time. This summer we are cruising on another RS in the Reflection. Will try to post back our experience in Civitavecchia.;) BTW, the best suite check in experience for us has been with NCL and Disney Cruise line. They don't have a VIP line, they have a special lounge for you to check in, with refreshments and in NCL case, with the concierge already there trying to help you. He also escorted us to the ship and out of the ship at the end of the cruise. Really nice. ;) There is no comparison to us between NCL and Celebrity as cruise lines, but we are looking forward to book a suite with Celebrity after April 2015. ;)

At Civitavecchia there is little more than a tent. We used Celebrity transfers from Rome and they deliberately arrived much later than Celebrity transfers in other ports we have used. We were in a Penthouse. There was a suite check-in queue next to the Speciality Dining desk [useful as we wre able to kill two birds ... ] and one of the Speciality restuarant waiters helped us carry our bags as far as the ship but I think that was because we had just signed bills for over US$1,000. After that there was nothing different to anyone else.

Yes, it is true. The experience on Celebrity is nothing like that on NCL when we were in a much lower category of suite.

Next year that bill will be $0.00

When we are in a suite I pick the hortest line...suite or elite etc.

In January 2014 on Equinox when we were in a CS no one greeted/escorted us or gave us a flower...now if that were the norm I would wait in the suite line as seems like an additional nice/special perk for suites.

Yesterday, I received a very nice email of introduction from the concierge in Michael's. He wanted to know if there was any assistance I needed pre-embarkation. I think we are off to a great start! :)

Good to know!!! That's one of the things that I always missed when cruising on a suite with Celebrity. Communication with a concierge prior to a cruise is a great thing. Looking forward to our suite experience this summer. :)

  • 2 weeks later...

VIP embarkation was very nice. We were escorted to Michael's which has been converted to PH, RS, CS and Zenith only. Concierge introduced us to our butler and we were escorted to the PH at about 1:15.

It was wonderful. I'll never travel in less than a CS again. Michael's really made it special.

You see, to all the doubters, the new perks are likely to work!

Sorry, no.

In the event that beachjulie hasn't read the whole thread, the VIP check-in that is being discussed here is for passengers in Suite Class on Celebrity booked in a Celebrity Suite and higher.

Celebrity suites and higher only as well as zenith level captains club members.

We also received our email for our t/a this week, looking forward to seeing the new vip lounge.
