texangal39 Posted October 26, 2015 #5428 Share Posted October 26, 2015 If someone comes and knocks on my cabin door wanting to come in a take pictures for people on the internet, I'm kicking that person in the box. [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23] I'm curious, which box?! [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]
Amazon Princess Posted October 26, 2015 #5429 Share Posted October 26, 2015 My wife is so disappointed. We both love the chicken pot pie. I don't see it anymore. She can't bring herself to eat the shepherds pie after we saw Sweeney Todd. The pies in "Sweeney" were not Shepherds pie, so she is safe to enjoy :D They were more of a meat pie with a pastry crust. Barbara83 Posted October 26, 2015 #5430 Share Posted October 26, 2015 I would avoid cabins on 9 or 10 directly above the District and, presumably, Food Republic. We were sitting in the glassed seating areas and could barely avoid looking up at people on their balconies just above us. Oops! We booked a balcony guarantee cabin and just found out That we got a cabin on deck 9 directly above the waterfront. We are on the ta crossing this thursday. Would it still be worth a try to call the travelagency to check If we could change cabins?

mattespana Posted October 26, 2015 #5434 Share Posted October 26, 2015 We are deck 10 10798 above 5 o clock somewhere bar. To be honest I'm not that bothered as we will be too occupied with activities offered onboard to notice if someone is looking upwards.

FreestyleNovice Posted October 26, 2015 Author #5436 Share Posted October 26, 2015 Hey all! Good speed on the internet on a netbook in cabin right now. Slower on iPhone. Today's to do: a spa price list, tonight the casino/Skyline bar (Daily states only "smoking in Casino VIP room while playing", did not see any stand alone smokers in the casino mid day, curious! Getting breakfast and through UK immigration procedure!

minnesotamamafish Posted October 26, 2015 #5438 Share Posted October 26, 2015 (edited) To all of you who are going on a cruise today, I wish you the best of trips! I grabbed a hold of the freestyle daily for today, sunday 25th of october: The 4th photo has safety information at the bottem of the page. Included are two things that caught my eye: Smoking only allowed on designated outdoor deck areas, cigar bar, and casino VIP lounge. And Spice H2O is adults only until 6pm. WHAT!!!??? Is the casino going almost entirely smoke-free due to all the complaints of smoke in 678 Ocean Place, or is this only for this cruise? I noticed that one of the muster stations is in the casino, so at first thought of all the people who would be upset with the smokiness. Not a problem, I guess. But where do the smokers go if it's raining? But the bigger question is, why is Spice open to children after 6pm??? Is this temporary for inaugural festivities only? If it continues, it will be more false advertising like the missing rappelling wall. (Is the gyroscope and the spiderweb crawl climber/slide still there?) Also, on page 2 the info for Guppies says to talk to the nursery attendant for details how to register for the drop off program. Lots of interesting reading in the fine print... BTW, a HUGE thank you to those of you posting your trip (or helping to share photos here)!!! It is SO appreciated and rewarding to finally see others experiencing her! CruisinHarvey Posted October 26, 2015 #5439 Share Posted October 26, 2015 (edited) Yup, great guy! :D Great! What was the name of bar where you saw Bong? He was at the Mojito bar on the Getaway, but his photos on facebook were from Tobacco Road on the Escape. Also interested in where they put the Chocolate Cowboy. You can't miss him. He's a black bartender that always wears a cowboy hat. I wouldn't ask on a smaller ship. But, with the number of bars on the Escape it may take a couple of days to find someone. Rare steamboats Posted October 26, 2015 #5442 Share Posted October 26, 2015 Back at DOJ again... Wow, those were the most stressful 2 nights I had ever!! I took more than 1,400 photos and it´ll take a while to get through them. DH did the Aqua Racer twice with his camera and what I saw the video turns out pretty good (Matthias had a problem as his camera fogged in). DH also took his camera up on the ropes course. Haven´t seen anything of this yet. I´ll let you know when it´s online. Great ship, noticed a big improvment regarding food, I´m not too happy with the cabins... We had a mini suite and let´s say storage space... In the bathroom there´s a nice large sink but no space you can place your toiletry bag or hang up a towel (unless you turn around and use the hooks at the door). So you wash your hands, turn around and spill the water all the way until you get to the towel. The soap dispenser is on the side with a gap between the wall and the sink. Hmm, I don´t want to clean the mess up when it´s dripping. Much more storage space in a regular bathroom. Storage space in the cabin is more or less limited to the wardrobe. There are two tiny cabinets underneath the TV but no drawers (except for the two under the sofa which were occupied by additional bedding). USB ports at the bed light but not at the vanity desk (3 US, 1 European plug in). One of the bed lights is also a permanent night light and no way to turn it off! No good idea! Master switch with a card... but it turns off the plugs too. So you have to place a card to get your stuff loaded while your´re not in the cabin. But then there´s a light turned on next to your cabin number saying "At Home". Food was really great. I tried out Margaritaville, The Haven Restaurant, Food Republic, Bayamo and Le Bistro. Haven´t been to any of the 3 main dining rooms. I have been to the Garden Café but for breakfast only. I saw lots of seafood including raw oysters, crab legs and lobster in the Garden Café on Saturday during lunch time (which ended at 4 pm). Not sure whether this was only a "treat" for us invited guests and whether this will be offered on a regular cruise too. Did the ropes course which was fun despite the wind. DH and a friend tried out the Aqua Racer. I don´t think anyone tried out the Free Fall. Vibe Beach Club, The Haven Sun Deck and Public Sun Deck were still sort of under construction. There was damage to the flooring (after the ship was handed over) which now has to be redone. The furniture is stored in other parts of the ship and waits for being set up. Fitness Center and Spa is really nice although you have to walk through the Fitness Center to get to the Spa. Unfortuantely The Supper Club had been cancelled for the first night (that´s where we were supposed to eat). After Midnight was really great (app. 1 h 15 min). The didn´t perform The Million Dollar Quartet on that cruise. As for the Guppies Nursery: Yes, parents have to sign up and book the hours. It´s 10 Dollars/hour. The Splash Acedemy is huge!!! Really nice rooms (although totally inside with no windows). steamboats
FreestyleNovice Posted October 26, 2015 Author #5443 Share Posted October 26, 2015 Bong was at Sugarcane. The whole casino is non smoking except the vip room (per daily), no ashtrays anywhere, machines also state "thank you for not smoking" om the small displays. Starboard Waterfront at the bars is the smoking spot, a consideration for those on deck 9 perhaps. LP, I would love to stay onboard, the ship is wonderfull and feeks less crowded than BA. The bars spread the crowd great. Some congestion at elevators after UK customs inspection in Manhattan MDR. Thoughts people had about "too crowded", can't rely to them. It's a mega ship yes, with the moderate weather we have now (pool deck empty) she's not overcrowded. Imo, my guess, no faxt. ;) You will have a wonderfull time! Rare steamboats Posted October 26, 2015 #5444 Share Posted October 26, 2015 Yes, no smoking in the casino. The only other places I saw people smoking (besides the ones FreestyleNovice mentioned) was the bar in Spice H2O and the upper level of the Waves Bar. JohnIreland, no, German legal problem. Ships do not have to obey German laws (BTW it´s State law, no Federal law) unless they carry the German flag. steamboats

LadySpoilt Posted October 26, 2015 #5448 Share Posted October 26, 2015 (edited) First thanks for all the pics and post regarding the Escape. I know not everyone agrees, however FROM MY VIEWPOINT, I have read one great thing and one slightly disappointing thing. Great thing.....Non Smoking casino Slightly disappointing...$ 10.00 per hour charge for Guppies. I knew there would probably be a sitting charge at night, but thought they were not charging during day. Note above, I said from MY VIEWPOINT. So the early published information that stated this one would be all adults all the time were incorrect. It's the same as the others.

That is in line with what we paid on Disney 10 years ago, so it comes as no surprise to me. Much more affordable than I'd imagined.
