Ladies... Swim suit question and related subject:

Recommended Posts

OK, here's my 2 cents. First of all - I wax EVERYTHING about once every two months. Brazilian waxes do hurt, but I find having my upper lip hurts a lot more. If you can get past the embarassment of being in a very compromising position naked in front of someone, it is well worth it.

But, for in-between or if waxing isn't your thing and you're not up for this magical powder everyone is raving about [i've never tried it but never been a fan of that sort of that type of hair removal] get a razor called the Body Bare. http://www.ralapure.com/bodybare/

It is by far the greatest invention known to man. I got it as a gift and use it to stay neat between waxings...fantastic. No bumps at all, no ingrown hairs...it's wonderful.

Okay, you just *know* that all of us will be checking our fellow cruisers out along their "nubby line" and just start conversations about hair removal of all forms. I can forsee the large tables in the dining rooms awash with depilatory-vs-waxing debates, wagers in the casino, and there will even be a special in the Spa later in the week, announced over the loudspeakers by the CD!

Who says that it's hard to come up with interesting dinner conversation? :D

Two days 'til we sail!!!!!!

My father uses this product to shave, and he didn't have problems with razor bumps. Does it still smell as bad as I remember?

Yeah, I think it smells kind of bad. No worse than other similar products though. You do need to leave it on the full length of time listed on the directions though or it won't work.

Just came back from shopping and couldn't find Magic Powder in any store. Now I've just got to have it!

Did you look where they keep the Black hair care products? This is where it is found in our stores around here in MO. Just a little FYI for ya! ;)

Happy sailing,

T.

CVS drugstore carries three kinds of Magic Powder; Regular Scent, Fragrant (not really sure what kind of fragrance, though, lol) and a new Creme version that you don't have to mix with water.

All three versions work extremely well. So well and with *no* irritation that my husband, who is as fair and sensitive skinned as they get, tried it and was thrilled. He said it was closer than a straight razor shave, and it lasts two days for the gents.

Go for it. And, as has been mentioned, it's less than half the price of women's depilatory products, probably to encourage men to use them without feeling "girly". :D

Just came back from shopping and couldn't find Magic Powder in any store. Now I've just got to have it!

I ran all around southern Maine looking for it, but it was nowhere to be found here...it is specifically for African American men, and Maine is far from diverse, so that is why I figure it isn't stocked anywhere...so, I ordered it on line. Walgreens had it and I also found the better Magic Powder (the platinum variety, which smeels better) at drugstore.com

good luck!

I would like to hear the opinion of how it works from a nubie... someone who hasn't tried it before. Does it really work as advertised?

I went and got it yesterday. Only I didn't get the powder. I got Magic Regular Fragrant Cream Shave (razorless beard remover depilatory). I am a newbie to this and have never used it before. I used it yesterday and it worked very well. I did have to leave it on about 8-10 minutes though. So far, so good. No irritation, itching and only a few bumps. :) I think I'm liking this stuff. I can tell already that this definitely won't last a week, maybe a couple of days before needing a touchup. I have to be honest, I was very nervous when I read on the tube," formulated exclusively for black men". I almost didn't buy it, but people on this board swore by it.

I went out yesterday, too, and bought the Magic Powder with Fragrance. (Dollar General for $1.50/can. It was in the same section as the black hair care products.) Used it this morning....I might need to keep it on a few minutes longer, but it certainly was easy!

I got a good giggle when my husband saw the can sitting in the bathroom and asked me why I had bought that. I told him I saw it on the Cruise Critic board!

Just finished my application for this week :) I use the powder and mix it to a thick paste and it works great! Thanks GC AGAIN........ If you can't find the ethnic hair care product section in your store, don't be afraid to ask- we have it at every store around in Katy/Houston, Tx.

No bumps at all and no irritation this time- you have to be careful not to get over zealous when applying "all over." ;)

i'm an epilator myself. for those that don't know what that is, its where you take this thing that looks like an electric razor only its a rotor with several pairs of small tweezers in it and it rips out multiple hairs at a time. my fiance doesn't understand why i use it, but shaving always gives me ingrown hairs plus i'm sensitive to it. Depilatory creams don't do anything(used all brands) and waxing never gets all the hairs. So with my epilator i get all the hairs and exfoliate my legs all at once.

For the nether-region, i just use an electric razor, i'm too scared to use anything else.

Although most of you swear by this magic powder, maybe i should give that a go.

I found it at Wal-Mart tonight! It was in the men's shaving cream section. Can't wait to try it out. But it says to remove it with a spatula? I am thinking I'll just remove it in the shower. Yes, you do learn the darnest stuff of the CC message boards! Thanks everybody!
