Liberty Of the Seas 4/21/14 Review with Pictures

Recommended Posts

Thanks for the review. Our favorite shop in Falmouth is called the Dragonfly. Its not your usual touristy shop that sells over-priced, cheaply made tee-shirts. They have a higher-end clothing selection where most of their skirts or shorts are made in the U.S.

BTW Thanks for your review, I can't wait to see and read more. We are getting the Liberty in Galveston in 2015 and I already have a cruised booked on her.

So sorry we never managed to meet up with everyone. I was having so much fun watching my kids and grandkids enjoy their first cruise that I never made any of the get-togethers. Love your pictures! Thank you for posting.

i love being up on deck when the ships dock in Jamaica. The water is so beautiful! do you know what night they do The Quest? Enjoy your cruise!

The Quest was the very last night ... we decided we'd have to skip it because we'd have to be up so early to self-carry our luggage off.

We woke up at 6am, grabbed a quick bite at the windjammer and watched our arrival back to Port Everglades

We docked right at 7am and were cleared by 7:05 am. We went to the concierge lounge and met Carlos who escorted us to deck 1 on a crew elevator and ushered us right off the ship.

Thanks to the 2013 Budget Sequestration there was only 1 Border Patrol Agent until 2 more arrived at 7:30 am. We exited the terminal at 7:40 pm

In port with us - Oasis and Indy (sorry no Indy pics)

A quick 11 min cab ride, curb side check in, a short TSA Pre line and we were at the gate at 8:11 am for our 9:40 am flight.

Concierge - Although we didn’t receive a pre trip email from Carlos, when we emailed him 2 weeks before the trip, he responded within 5 mins and confirmed the cabana we wanted. He also provided outstanding service onboard with reservations and disembarkation.

Diamond Concierge - This was Gustavo’s first sailing on Liberty and you can tell he has to adjust to the larger class ship. He was extremely friendly and a really nice guy. We did notice a few people in shorts during the cocktail hour. We also noticed some people were very upset by this. Gustavo let them know the policy is now smart casual which is defined as no beach wear.

Food – (Subjective) - Very good. We didn’t eat in the main dining room but enjoyed the full menu in our suite on most nights. Room Service was quick and never made any mistakes. Windjammer staff was very friendly without being annoying. Chops service was outstanding even if my porterhouse was tough. When the waiter saw were Diamond Plus, he went to his manager and got us the 2 for 1 discount even though it wasn’t the 1st night.

Bring back the Vidalia onion tart!!!!!!

Bar Service – Very good even if some places didn’t have Guava for my Guava-rita’s :-(

Unlimited Internet Service – Surprisingly on our ipads the service was slow, however on our laptops the service was very very good. It reminded me of DSL – which is not bad for being on a ship. Skype and imessage worked. Facetime didn’t. I also couldn’t VPN into my work server.

Cabin steward – Komang did an outstanding job including folding clothes, towel animals and greeting us by name everyday

CD – We remember Rich when he was an activities manager. I felt he was pretty good but Paulette felt he was just reading off of a script. Let’s see if he grows into the job. He did do a good job hosting the various shows and parades. Activities manager Cuddy will be a great CD in the future.

Before this sailing, Liberty was our favorite ship. This time, as usual, Liberty did not disappoint. The staff and crew went above and beyond to provide the WoW factor. The last 4 times on Liberty we rated the sailings 100%. We would like to reaffirm Liberty’s 100% rating after another fantastic sailing. Liberty remains our favorite RCCL ship.

Shout out to Roberto - Barefoot Beach Manager and to the Adventure Ocean Crew.

We remain “Loyal to Royal”

This is Ken Jarvis and I approve this review.

Love this review and so glad you had a great cruise. I was on the next sailing and I'm doing a trip report ... Although my pics pale in comparison.

I love reading reviews and know how much time they take ... So a big thank you from another Libertarian. :)

I was one of those wearing shorts in the DL for cocktail hour. Well, at least when we had time and were not busy somewhere else. There was NO sign on the door stating that no shorts were allowed. To those people with their nose stuck way up in the air, TOUGH. I don't go by vague unwritten rules. If there is no sign prohibiting it, it is just fine. If RCL wants to have specific dress codes at various locations, they should post and enforce the rules so there is no confusion. If nothing posted, anything goes... Also, having the rules the same for all the ships would be convienent.

BTW, there were a couple photos that you posted that we were looking at you. We were not more than a couple feet from you on the bow leaving Port Everglades. Another one that you shot looking down the ship toward the bow showed me hanging out over our balcony railing.... :)

I was JUST looking at a sailing on the Liberty for Jan 2015! Decided to come here and see if I could get some answers and here's your review.

So.....what are the things that cost extra? I know the specialty restaurants and Johnny Rockets and the Cupcake Cupboard. What about the movie theater? I know some lines charge for the 3D movies. The theater looks kind of small.

Also....the inevitable chair hogs....does the crew do anything about it?

Thanks for posting so many pictures!

Here is the info about the Liberty dining options and what costs extra and does not.

There is no charge for movies or 3D glasses. The 3D movies are shown in the Platinum theatre. On the Mar 21st Liberty cruise, they showed 'Gravity' in 3D one day. They hand out the 3D glasses as you enter the theatre. Plenty of space in the theatre for the movies. Movies are also on the outside screen by the pool most nights.

Chair hogs are a problem on every cruise ship. As long as you do not HAVE to sit within the sight-line of the pool, there will be plenty of lounges available for you. Lots of discussion on the chair hogs on other various threads.

Thank you for the link. The theater that is shown on the virtual tour just looked very small so I was surprised.

I know...those silly chair issues....Just seems some ship staff deal with it and others do not. On the Allure last month, it was a joke.

Hi,

Thanks so much for your great review and beautiful pictures!!

We're thinking of the Liberty for the 10 night Oct 2015. You don't see many reviews on the Liberty so this was really appreciated!

Thanks again

Liz:)

Agree!!! Our next cruise and possibly the next two may be on Liberty so the info and photos are much appreciated as I do my homework.

Just a quick shout out to Ken and Paulette....a couple of really fun loving people! We'll cruise with you again SOMEDAY, and maybe my hubby will be with me instead of Wendy! I didn't see any pink boas or pink fedoras being worn. We'll have to remedy that! Enjoyed your review and photos!

Kay
