I think it has something to do with the casino - but I've never been a big spender in there. I haven't been on a carnival cruise in awhile and I think they want to temp me back!!! We were booked on a celebrity for March, but I'm going to cancel that and the deposit will almost cover the cruise!

The last round of free cruise letters (about February) was a random computer draw using VIFP customer numbers. Although some will tell you it is a conspiracy.

 

 

There was a spreadsheet made, lots of discussion, etc and there were no significant similarities between people who got them.

 

Some were booked already, others not. Some had just sailed within the past few months, others not for years. Some book insides while other book balconies. Some have big Sign & Sail accounts at the end of the cruise, while others have small ones. Some use the casino and others did not. All age ranges. Families and couples. One cabin cruisers as well as multiple cabin cruisers. Canadian as well as US travelers.

 

My husband was one of the lucky ones.:) We only paid the taxes & port fees & gratuities along with a $70 pp upgrade to a balcony. We also booked a separate cabin for our kids. The day the letter arrived , I looked online. There were 16 pages on the Carnival website of available sailings. All different ports, ships, and itineraries. We booked that night. We leave in 41 days.

 

The letters came on Carnival stationary with sample sailings and free cabin offer information. The envelope also said Carnival. If you log onto Carnival....click Cruise deals at the top.....then check VIFP deals and exclusive offers, it was listed there also under my husband's VIFP number. If the offer came from the casino Player's Club or from a Travel agent, then it was a different letterhead and not shown on your account. Those are the easiest ways to determine if the offer is from Carnival directly or someone else.

I have a friend that just won not one but 2 free cruises for "liking" Carnival on a different site.

 

She said they called her one day from Carnival and stated she had one and all she had to do was pay Taxes, port charges of $129pp. She booked that one right away....and tells me about it that night

 

The next morning she gets another call from them that she had won a free cruise... she told them "no way, and that she had already won 1 cruise...the agent told her, "well you must have entered her name a lot"....so now she is booked on her second cruise....Sheeesh, I can't even get a hook-up for a free, discounted, on sale, ANYTHING cruise!!!!

I had checked my carnival past guest offers a couple weeks ago, as someone here posted about new discounts for casino players. I had an offer there for a free inside cabin on a 3 or 4 day cruise out of Long Beach, and booked the next day, after checking with work about time off, etc. I called and booked thru Carnival. The special 'free' cruise thingy was still on my page, though.

 

This past Saturday, I got a mailer from Carnival, stating that I could have up to TWO free 3-4 day cruises, but they had to be booked by June 26, for sailings through February. I am currently waiting for an answer about a date from a friend, and then will book again within a week.

 

I don't know WHY or HOW I was selected, just that I know that I got it, and I'm not complaining. I do know that I did reach 1000 player points on my last 3 day cruise, if that means anything....

My Granny called me very excited over the weekend and said she received one in the mail. I told her to throw it away it must be a scam!! OOPS!! Are these transferable? She has only been on 1 cruise and that was with someone else... so I'm wondering if she decides to go, does she have to have a guest..or can she even give it away if she doesn't want to go.

I also got my via a flyer. But mine was good for several cruises, I even could have booked a 15 night hawaian cruise. It also says I can book up to two cruises before 6/26/14.

It looks like Carnival continues to reward their infrequent cruisers over their more loyal customers. There is something wrong with this picture. There is definitely an unspoken message in that.

1st: sorry it is not transferable. But don't fret that she threw the letter away, you dont really need it. All she has to do it go onto the Carnival website and under "Manage" then "VIFP" and check for "Special offers" it would show up there as well.

 

We too got the free cruise letter. One thing you need to know is that should you cancel or be a no-show you are responsible for the market value of the cruise. They recommend getting insurance for $50 which we did.

 

Why we got the letter? We're not sure. It's not casino related, although I hear that there are some free casino cruises out there too. But my son got the letter and he is only 19. Last summer was the first time he was even able to gamble so I know it cant be that.

I think it has something to do with the casino - but I've never been a big spender in there. I haven't been on a carnival cruise in awhile and I think they want to temp me back!!! We were booked on a celebrity for March, but I'm going to cancel that and the deposit will almost cover the cruise!

Just got an offer from Carnival for a free inside room. I am so excited. Just have to pay taxes so it will only be $229 for both hubby and I. Didn't think hubby would want to go in an inside room but he's ok with it. Going go on the Pride for a 7 day eastern carribean.

I think you are confusing the terms and conditions link with the actual offers that you personally would be eligible for. The actual offers are right on the first page when you sign into your VIFP number. When you go into one of the offers, you get to a page that lists the terms and conditions--that is the terms for all available offers the carnival is having -different people get different offers.
