Rare Cruisegirl6 Posted June 1, 2014 #1 Share Posted June 1, 2014 We are thinking of going on the Royal Princess, Caribbean next year and have read that some evenings there are no smoking nights in the casino, if this is true, how many nights and is it the entire evening into the wee hours of the morning? My daughter and her bf use those electronic cigarettes, they give off no smoke but vapor but I do believe Princess treats them as if they are like smoke, can anybody verify whether its true there are no smoking evenings on the Royal Princess? I also read there is a soot issue on the Royal, can anybody verify this, explain if its really bad and I have an idea what it is but can anybody explain exactly what this problem/issue is? Thank you. -Lew- Posted June 1, 2014 #3 Share Posted June 1, 2014 From what I understand, soot has been experienced on aft cabin balconies only...those facing the wake. We were in a cabin along the side of the Royal on Riviera deck and experienced no soot issues. Princess and the ship builder are actively seeking a remedy to the soot issue. cattolica Posted June 1, 2014 #4 Share Posted June 1, 2014 This directly from the Princess website regarding electronic cigarettes. "Electronic Cigarettes The use of electronic cigarettes is permitted in all areas onboard with the exception of dining areas and the Princess Theater. However, should a fellow passenger in the vicinity feel inconvenienced and complain, even after being told the difference between electronic cigarettes and real cigarettes, we will ask the passenger to refrain from smoking the electronic cigarette." They are allowed in the casino on non-smoking nights until someone complains even after it is explained to them that they do not emit smoke, only vapor. Ethel5 Posted June 1, 2014 #5 Share Posted June 1, 2014 On some ships, there is no smoking in the casino even on non-formal nights. On one TA on the Ruby, it was almost every third night. they will announce it and have a sign in the entrance to the casino.
