Air Conditioning on Carnival DREAM?

I've read so many complaints about the temperature in the cabins on DREAM being "warm" instead of ......well......air conditioned! Has anyone had a room on DREAM that was actually cool/cold in temperature? I really don't want to be hot all week in my cabin. We plan on having a balcony cabin somewhat AFT.

I was on the Dream in April and our cabin was actually cold. I took a battery-operated fan because our cabin on the Freedom was sooooo hot.

Been on the Dream twice. Actually had to turn the air down (warmer). No complaints. We stayed on deck 10 both times.

I was on the Dream two weeks ago and the air conditioning worked fine. I did have it turned all of the way down, but it was nice and cool. I had a balcony stateroom (9259) in the forward part of the ship.

 

You should be fine!

I've been on Dream twice. The first time it was an inside cabin and I thought I was going to die. It took two days to get the room below 80 degrees after three different repair people came to fix it. The second time we had a balcony and there was no problem. It was comfortable the whole time. Dream is not my favorite ship but the second trip was much more comfortable.

Another vote for no a/c problems. Was on her last week (lido balcony) and had no issues with the a/c at all. Very comfortable.

I've been on the Dream 4 times and have never had a problem with the a/c. I was able to keep the cabin as cool as I liked. I hope you have a fabulous cruise.:D

I just got off and our room was kind of warm sometimes but the cabin connecting to us was cold.

We had an interior cabin on deck 8. No a/c problems. My husband successfully froze us into ice cubes every night.

We were on the Dream in April for the repositioning cruise and we had to have maintenance come and tinker with the A/C on the first 2 nights. They kept the grate off fir the whole cruise. We were in cabin 6358 and it was never overly cool in the cabin

I'm concerned too. It's one reason we opted for interior rooms this time, rather than a balcony. Our first cruise on the Elation last year was way too warm, we figured it was partially due to the large windows and balcony door. It was so bad we couldn't even sleep until we were exhausted, and we were showering 3 times a day to stay cool.

 

I'm hoping that this cruise being in December will help, we went in May last year.

We were on the June 8 th cruise also....first day room was a bit warm(but I always find the rooms a bit warm on the first day) after that we found the room cool to almost cold....

 

2 complaints about dream.

1. Having to walk through middle of Casino to get from one end to another on deck 5

We were on the Valor a few weeks back in a balcony cabin on the Panorama Deck and our room was unbearably warm. So much so that I woke up night one at 4am dripping with sweat. I ended up having to sleep on the orange vinyl couch without a sheet cuz it was the coolest thing in the room. The next day in St. Thomas I went to kmart and bought a small desktop fan. I knew it was on the "confiscate list" but thought I could sneak it on in my beach bag. Well didn't work and they confiscated it when we came through security. They ended up sending someone to the room with a thermometer and it was 77* in the room so they gave us a very big fan to use for the rest of the week. It all worked out but it would've been unbearable without that fan. I'm pretty sure there was something wrong with the a/c with that stretch of rooms (1056, 1058, 1060) because our friends had to call to get a fan for their room a few nights later.

I have taken a fan on every cruise and it has never been taken. It is always new or new looking with a great cord. That is concerning to me!!

How big of a fan are you talking about?

 

It seems with as much $$$$ we put out for our cruises that they could make us comfortable in our cabins. If folks like a warm cabin, they can make the temperature warmer......but, for those of us who like it freezing cold when it's hot and humid outside, I would like the option of having my cabin that way.

 

Hopefully, it won't be an issue. We have connecting balcony cabins 8436-8440. Unfortunately, I always have to keep the curtains drawn to keep the room cool....but, I will substitute staying cool for not being able to see my beautiful view.

I like it cool but the reason I take a fan is for noise blocking purposes. However, if it is warm, my fan can do double duty!! :D

Mine was brand new in the box. They told me it was a fire hazard and had to be confiscated until the end of the cruise. I argued that it was brand new but to no avail. Good luck on your next cruise. I know we couldn't have stayed in that room for the week had we not had a fan!

How big of a fan? Like...a desktop fan, box fan, oscillating floor fan, etc?

We were on the July 27 sailing in cabin 9479 and the first day was misery. Family had the two cabins next to us, 9481 and 9478 and their rooms fluctuated, but were cold the very last night while ours never truly got cold the entire trip. It was unbearable, but if I had taken a fan it would have been much better.
