Need help choosing a room...

Recommended Posts

This will be my first time sailing Royal Caribbean and was wondering if there any areas I want to stay away from on Navigator of the Seas. I'm just booking an inside room as I'll be by myself.

I've sailed NCL & Carnival 4 times each, so I'm familiar with cruising, just not familiar with RCI's boats. Any help would be appreciated.

Not a huge deal, but my own personal preference is to avoid deck 10, because it's right under to pool deck and the potential for noise from above is higher.

What kind of stateroom were you considering?

We've been near the ice rink before and had no problems. The only issue is that those decks (2 and 3) don't go all the way through forward to aft because of the ice rink, so you might have to do some walking forward to get aft or vice-versa.

I've sailed voyager class ships a bunch of times in an inside cabin. I prefer deck 7 aft cat N like 7435 or 7335. I like the inside corridor because it it super quiet and is accessible through a door at the back of the library. IMO the cat Q cabins are poorly located on the ship and it's worth the extra bit if money to go with a cat N.

The ice rink is on 3. I don't believe there would be any noise from that venue.I suggest staying on deck 7 or higher. Most of the entainment and bars as well as the casino are on decks 5 and 4. Bob is right that there is a chance of noise if you are on deck 10. I believe most of the virtual balcony cabins are on deck 10, however. There may be some on deck 9. You will just have to check.

My favorite basic inside cabins on Voyager class ships are on Deck 6 forward. They are very quiet, and just a quick flight down to the Café Promenade, and two quick flights down to exit for the outdoor Promenade. We've had 6529, 6237, 6133 and 6135 - there's a landing in the stair/elevator area that overlooks the promenade and is the perfect spot for watching parades, the 70s party and other events. You can also see/hear what's going on in Schooner Bar - the singer or the trivia.

It doesn't show it in the deck plan, but there is a hallway and door separating these cabins from the stair/elevator landing, so it is quiet and peaceful inside the cabins.

If we need to get to a venue in the rear of the ship, we use the Promenade as a walk thru, which is so much better than walking through a hallway of endless cabin doors on another deck.

I would pick anything in that area, or in the same area on deck 7.

I usually pick M interior on Explorer, Deck 9. I like to be higher up.

We have also had K and L (Decks 9 & 10) and we haven't been bothered by any noise, but I would always check the deck plans to see what's above you.

None of the cabin hallways open directly to public areas....the only foot traffic will be those living on that hallway.

I like to choose a deck closest to where I plan to spend my DAYTIME hours....it makes life easier if I can take a flight of stairs rather than waiting on elevators.
