Explorer - Royal Replenish ?'s

Recommended Posts

Hi

I will be on the 5 night Bermuda cruise on Explorer soon.

A few questions regarding the Royal Replenish package since I've had the standard soda package in the past but am thinking of trying this mainly for the bottled water. Cruising out of Bayonne, I used to bring a case of bottled water with me, but with the package I can get cold bottles of water rather than "cool" water.

1 - What brand bottled water was given with the Royal Replenish on Explorer?

2 - Where can you pick up the bottles of water?

3 - I remember in the past when leaving the ship in port, there was usually someone selling water and beverages as you are leaving. Would they sell water that would be included with the package or do I need to pick it up elsewhere before heading off the ship?

4 - Does Explorer have the soda machines that you put the cup under and are able to get all sorts of variety of soda?

5 - Any benefit to buying the package in advance rather than on the ship?

6 - Where is the fresh squeezed OJ available? Windjammer? Anywhere else?

7 - Where can you get the specialty coffee/tea? I'm assuming café promenade. What about in the dining room if I want an iced cappuccino after dinner? Any other places for specialty coffee?

8 - Any non alcoholic cocktails that you would recommend? I would normally have an alcoholic cocktail either at the show, the casino, etc but I'm a lightweight with alcohol and usually like fruity things where you don't taste the alcohol anyway so am looking forward to trying some mocktails.

Thank you in advance for your help

Noreen

Did this on Navigator so can only help with some of the questions.

Water was a variety depending on where you got it. I got mine at casino bar, cafe promenade and vintages for short lines. In MDR I had sparkling which was Perrier.

Bottles getting off WERE NOT INCLUDED. They were larger sizes so I got mine the night before to avoid queues in the morning, unless up early.

Can't help with soda machine question, sorry.

No advantage of prepaying other than will reduce your room bill:D

OJ I only saw in WJ but I think you could get at cafe promenade (along with their premium coffees, teas etc.)

Cocktails I would recommend (all non alcoholic)

Piña Colada

Strawberry Lava flow (they do a mango one as well but was very sweet)

Strawberry daiquiri.

Mango papaya crush

(Didn't care for some of the mango drinks as a little too sweet but you might like sweeter drinks. Also didn't care for the chocolate Oreo drink, was not very smooth due to crumbs in it)

Hope it helps

Thoroughly enjoyed the package and highly recommend.

Yes they do, there are 2 machines by Cafe Promenade and there are 2 in the WJ.

5 - Any benefit to buying the package in advance rather than on the ship?

6 - Where is the fresh squeezed OJ available? Windjammer? Anywhere else?

I have seen them advise fresh OJ in the WJ entrance and you can also get in the dining room.

Regarding question 7, besides Cafe Promenade, you can get specialty coffee in the MDR and Portofino. That includes cappucino, latte, and expresso. I don't know if it includes iced cappucino.

Best thing to do is wait to purchase until you are on board, and ask them specifically what the package includes.

Do they swipe your card when you ask for a drink with this package or just show them the card?

Thanks

On Navigator some locations wrote down name from Seapass card, others (especially the cafe promenade) swiped and always had to sign, others just looked at it:rolleyes:

No rhyme nor reason, but not consistent through the ship.

After a couple of days got used to what procedures were for that location.

Hi

Just wanted to report back on the Royal Replenish package on Explorer on the 5 night Bermuda Cruise leaving Bayonne 7/12/14.

I purchased the Royal Replenish package in advance so the Coca Cola logo was on my Sea Pass card and a little sticker that said RR was attached to the card.

I had trouble using the soda machines with the cup but since I mainly drank basic soda like coke or sprite I just asked a bartender/waiter/etc and was able to get my soda of choice in a regular cup. Other than trying it the first day the cup from the package stayed in the cabin. This isn't a knock on the machines, I just had trouble and gave up. Plenty of people were using them without problems.

I was able to get bottled water at various locations. Different bars, the promenade café, the Windjammer, etc. Most places would swipe your card and you signed. I went through a lot of bottled water. It was Crystal Geyser. I prefer Dasani and Poland Spring but it was fine. It saved me lugging a case of water on the ship and I was able to have cold water instead of just cool water.

Fresh squeezed OJ was available at the Windjammer. They just wrote you number down from the card but didn't swipe anything. This was the big surprise of the trip for me. I didn't think I'd like it since I don't like pulp in OJ. Surprisingly, it didn't have any (or if it did, it was so little I didn't notice) and it was really good. Since I had the package I tried it then got a glass each morning at breakfast. If I got bottled water at the fresh OJ station, they just wrote down my number but didn't swipe.

I got various specialty iced coffees at Café Promenade. I'm not a coffee drinker but do like those weird Starbucks concoctions once in a while. I had an iced White Chocolate Mocha, Iced Caramel Macchiato, and Caramel Frappuccino throughout the trip. They would swipe your card for you to sign here. I usually tipped the barista $2 when I got a specialty coffee (cash).

I had a few non alcoholic drinks throughout the trip from various bars. I would usually tip the bartender $2 (cash) when I got one. They would swipe your card.

If I add up the cost of the package vs the cost if I bought each drink alone, I probably didn't quite break even. But I had things I normally wouldn't and didn't have to think about it.

I would definitely get the Royal Replenish package again.

Does anyone happen to know if the basic soda package includes juice? Or is it just soda? TIA!

No bottled juices or fresh squeezed juices. However, there may be juice drink selections in the Freesytle machine, assuming you are on one of the 8 ships with a machine.

On Liberty, we got bottled water as we walked around night before a shore excursion, and took the bottle with us. Then found out whn they were selling the larger bottles as you left the ship, they also had the small bottles, but on a shelf out of sight, you had to ask for them.

The RR package has sticker shock, but I drank several sodas each day, at least three bottles of water a day, and one or more virgin pina coladas too. I night have broke even.

Small (tall) cappucino was $2.60 and medium (grande) $3.30 from memory - those were the cheapest coffees at Starbuck on the Cafe Promenade. I always asked for a bottle of water when I got a coffee so I would have plenty in the room. They seemed to be happy to accept that it was normal to have a water with coffee! Nowhere else was happy with two drinks at once with Royal Replenish. I've got a photocopy of the drinks packages somewhere - I'll post them if I find them.
