We live in Schenectady , almost as bad weather as Rochester. Our very first cruise, we few down the day of and were exhausted by the time we were finally on the ship. We now fly down the day ahead, relax in the evening, and boarded the ship early ( 11 - 11:30 ish) have lunch on boarded and enjoy the day exploring the ship, although husband usually in hot tub).

Enjoy your cruise!

Always, always, always at least a day before - two if you can swing it. Much more relaxing way to start the day, and these days if there is bad weather and your flight is cancelled the planes fly so full who knows how long it could take you to get a back-up flight.

I'm on a cruise in September and was able to book all my Select Dining times online. Once onboard, we will sometimes change a time based on other activities.

Unless Celebrity has very recently changed something, you should be able to go into your reservation and book your Select Dining times.

And as many others have said, fly in a day ahead and enjoy!

Used to live in the "snow belt" of Michigan and due to work constraints would fly the day of - the entire week was miserable with worry watching the weather. Once there was a bad storm blowing in so we decided to leave for Chicago airport at 2:00 a.m., they eventually closed down the highway and while we made that flight - the plane was almost empty. Save yourself the stress and worry - fly down the day before.

Yes, some do, but we never use them because they tend to be very crowded and you often have to sign up for a specific time, and many charge for the service. Most of the hotels are about a $10 cab ride away which is faster, easier and cheaper.

For our last cruise in April, the hotel told us that there were no cabs available on our embarkation day and that we needed to sign up for their shuttle which I believe was nine dollars per person. We pooh-poohed that and went out with our bags; there was a cab sitting right there and we were at the port in five minutes!

Other friends staying nearby went down with their bags only to find a long line of people waiting for the shuttle. They just walked a few feet further out to the street and hailed the first cab that came along and it was less than $10 for them as well

We also advise against shuttles for the reasons mentioned - many hotels that do have them charge you anyway, so you might as well call a taxi. We have also rented cars, and were able to return them near the port, where you will be shuttled to the port from the rental return.

We always stay at Hilton family hotels. I can recommend the Doubletree Gallery One (very nice hotel, on the waterway and a water taxi stop, across the street from a nice mall, walkable to a grocery store and restaurants), the Hilton Marina (one block from the water taxi stop and walkable to stores and restaurants) and the Embassy Suites (the closest and across the street from a wine store, and walkable to restaurants and grocery as well). Of the three the nicest for a honeymoon visit would be the Doubletree IMHO.
