Unable to perform standard muster drill

Recommended Posts

Actually that is a Question. Is Royal Caribbean Muster Drills outdoors standing up?

This is very important to me because I can't stand for more than a few minutes and if Royal still makes you stand outside I will have difficulty; however, I feel they are important to attend in case there is a true emergency.

Celebrity hasn't had outdoor muster in years; at least not since my back surgery in 2008.

If your muster station is out on deck, you can check in and then go inside and sit down. There will be s staff member there to demonstrate exactly what they are doing out on deck.

Gatorade comes in powdered form. Absolutely no reason to haul on a case of it. Let them know in advance you have issues that prevent you from standing outdoors and they will let you sit inside. Can't see why your DH, son and inlaws can't take part in the regular drill however.

Unfortunately for us, when flying out of Cleveland, a doctor's letter is required and must be shown. We are also subject to the special test of the boxes of juice I carry. It all depends on who the TSA agent is and the time of the flight.

Seems that if we have a very early flight and there is little traffic in the security lines, the TSA agents take more of an interest in what is going through their x-ray machines. I even take the boxes out and put them in the tray. They are juicy juice boxes in a sealed package of 8.

No, I was referring to TSA.

Well it looks like it just depends on whatever agent one gets and how much of a hurry they are in.

Thanks for info.

Thank you to everyone! I will contact RCCL in advance & I will also get a dr note just in case. Thank you, thank you!

I am thrilled to hear that there is PowerAid on board! I had no idea! Does anyone know which flavors they have? Thank you for letting me know about it! That may solve the Gatorade issue :)

Depends on the ship and muster station. There are still many ships with outdoor muster stations where you passengers are standing. If you cannot stand for long, see your muster station leader and they will accomodate you.

Thank you for this information; I appreciate your help.

Yes they are but if needed they will get a chair or wheelchair for the duration

Well its interesting to find out how this is supposed to work.

Here's what happened to us last year. We cruised with my Mom who was 78 at the time. She is in good health but standing up for an extended period is difficult for her so after checking in at our muster station, we asked if there is anywhere she could sit for the muster drill. The person in charge of our station passed us off to another crew member who passed us to another, who opened a side door into the casino and left us there. We are now standing in the middle of a closed casino with no crew around and no idea what we are supposed to do. We sat down in front of some slot machines for awhile thinking that maybe there would be a drill inside where we were. Some crew members walked through and saw us but no one approached us. Finally we got tired of sitting in there not knowing what was going on. We went back out the door we came in and made our way back to where our muster station was. We got there just about the time the drill was over so we both missed it completely. I guess we were supposed to find somewhere inside where the drill was happening. It would have been nice if someone had actually taken us to the right place or at least told us where it was.

What is this "checking in" that everyone is talking about? I don't remember checking in with anyone. I just remember our steward being in the hallway and us proceeding to where we had to go and the guy doing the demonstration of the life vest as if he was bored.

Thank you for the information about the no being able to stand for a long time period. I wear compression stockings and can not always stand or walk for long periods. I will email RCI tomorrow.

On my last few cruises I've been checked off a list at the muster station. They've then called out specific room numbers close to the time the muster is due to start where they've not been checked off.

Look for a muster station leader with a clipboard or device for scanning SeaPass cards. We've seen both.

I do not mean to be insensitive because I am sure you are unwell but you might want to walk to the muster Station early so that you can do it at your own pace. Since you are going to be there before the masses arrive you will most certainly find a seat. Then wait until masses are gone so that you can get an elevator.

It is so important you do the trip at least once for your own sake and do not take the elevator!

Just so you are aware. I don't know about the Coke freestyle machines on Freedom, but on Enchantment once items ran out they did not refill the machines. I would hate for you to count on having Powerade all week, and the machine run out. Just something to consider.

Thank you :) My DH suggested several scenarios last night as well that supported the idea of bringing on our own Gatorade.

Not disagreeing with your point, but they do have accomodations for people who cannot use the stairs in a genuine emergency.
