Save 10% on Carnival Gift e-Cards through Verizon program

I just got off the Paradise. I planned on using gift cards to pay the $500 deposit for my next cruise I wanted to book while on this cruise. However, I ended up getting approved for the Carnival Credit Card, so that was used to pay deposit for next cruise.

 

I had already applied the $500 of gift cards to my account for the deposit, and I don't drink alcohol ... so by the end of the cruise I still had about $500 of positive credit on my S&S account - I asked at the casino if I could "cash out" ... and they told me if I got CASH out of the tables OR the slot machine, that it would be considerd a credit card CASH ADVANCE and NOT use up my gift cards.

 

At guest services, they told me that they cards were actually NOT REDEEMED, even though they were applied to my S&S account, and if they were not spent then the money would go back to the ORIGINAL cards, not be combined into a new one. He also told me SAME thing about not being able to cash out gift cards at the casino.

 

On the last night, I decided to take a chance with the casino, and I loaded $500 on a slot machine (I had $470 of "gift cards" left on my S&S account). I played on the machine for about 10 minutes, got it up to $525 and then played it down to $500 - then cashed that out at the cage (so I got $500 CASH.) -- Once I got home, I saw that my credit card ONLY got charged $30, (the balance that wasn't covered by gift cards, and there was NO "cash advance") --- and when I checked the balance of those gift cards they came up $0. SO THE LADY IN THE CASINO WAS WRONG, and the GUY AT GUEST SERVICES WAS WRONG === You can actually cash out gift cards by using a slot machine in the casino - I would wait till the last night though - Let me know if you have any other questions.

I just tried to check the balance on the 10 - $100 gift cards I just got and they all say "invalid pin". Anyone else have this problem? I don't want to have to go to the hassle of calling Verizon or Carnival if I don't have to!!!

 

There are a couple of threads on this. I don't know why it happens but seems to be a common problem even though the balance is there. You can do a mock booking or mock shore excursion purchase and should have the opportunity to enter the card without the pin. You don't have to actually complete the purchase. I havent done it myself but I believe that is what others have suggested here.

My purchase from 9/9 still hasn't shipped. :(

 

I called this morning and asked about it and the woman said that they are not in a status yet were we would have to worry, like if they were purchased 10 or 20 days ago. But I did purchase them 10 days ago. :confused:

 

Anyone else having trouble with a purchase from 9/9?

I also purchased on 09/09 and the status was changed to mailed on 09/11. They are suppose to be in my mailbox today.

Ugh. I don't get it. Glad you're getting yours. They also told me it would be mailed UPS and had to be signed for since I purchased $500 worth. Did you purchase less than 5? Maybe that is why.

Yes, I only purchase 3 - $100. I did purchase 1 - $500 yesterday and I am waiting to see how long that one takes.

They were finally shipped today. Maybe calling one more time was the trick.

 

Also, somewhat hilariously, my husband was sent a weird shorthand version of my conversation with Verizon this morning.

 

"cust ci re order *******

adv cust orders usually take 5-7 business days to ship

adv cust if confirmation has not been received by 9-23 to contact us back

cust states she is due to travel in a few weeks

apologized to cust

thanked cust for calling"

 

It's not entirely accurate, though not crazy incorrect, and its odd it was sent to him. Do they always do this?
