Guest maddycat Posted August 23, 2014 #26 Share Posted August 23, 2014 (edited) I'm going off topic. Sorry, but I can't resist. I'm a tea drinker and think the the tea that RCI now serves (First Tea) is awful. It's weak and has a flowery taste. Before RCI started serving First Tea they had Liptons and Twinings. Both are better teas. I now bring my own tea on a RCI cruise. Edited August 23, 2014 by maddycat
bigeck Posted August 23, 2014 #27 Share Posted August 23, 2014 (edited) Why thank you Sir. Sometimes he bugs people though. Not me. As for the coffee, I don't mind it. It's free and I'm on a cruise Edited August 23, 2014 by bigeck
ladysail2 Posted August 23, 2014 #28 Share Posted August 23, 2014 Pay attention. This is why I have the Replenish Package and I believe this is a sinister ploy by RCL to get more people to take this package up. ;) I'm a tea drinker and think the the tea that RCI now serves (First Tea) is awful. The Replenish Package serves lovely coffees (have had the package), and premium tea....guess which kind???? Bringing your own tea is a great idea. If there are kettles in the cabins, I bring my own coffee too. Maybe they'll install Kuerig machines one day!! :D

I guess I'll have to get the cappuccino in the Diamond Lounge.
TXGalAJ Posted August 23, 2014 #30 Share Posted August 23, 2014 After my last RC cruise I decided I will be bringing the non-refrigerated flavored creamer packs. Hoping it will mask the terrible taste!
cooncat_mom Posted August 23, 2014 #31 Share Posted August 23, 2014 On our last cruise, we found a packet of hot cocoa and some milk in the coffee helped a lot. On this cruise - I got the Replenish Package! ;)
Brian131489 Posted August 23, 2014 #32 Share Posted August 23, 2014 The best way to drink it, place one packet of the sugar in the raw, and the second sweetener of your choice. For the twist add the nightly cordial drink to it. It will take the horrid flavor out of it
tommoore1 Posted August 23, 2014 #33 Share Posted August 23, 2014 Unless the java is REALLY bad, a pinch of salt will take the bitterness out.
krev Posted August 23, 2014 #34 Share Posted August 23, 2014 The coffee on Serenade was horrible in 2011. We sailed on Adventure last year, the first morning I went for the Starbucks and my husband had cafe promenade and said it was good. That's what I had after that and it was great, guess we'll see what it's like in a couple of weeks. cruiseguy1016 Posted August 24, 2014 #35 Share Posted August 24, 2014 I am not a big coffee drinker but I do drink it. I don't like it strong. I prefer a light roast. When I'm cruising I get up early every morning to watch us pull into port. I always grab a cup of coffee from the Windjammer. I fill my cup half way with coffee and then top it off with hot water. To me, that's a pretty good cup of coffee.
Cruisin Dave Posted August 24, 2014 #36 Share Posted August 24, 2014 on our last cruise. It makes GREAT paint stripper. My only regret is I didn't bring enough of it. That's why I only drink the wine!
CruiseMore1 Posted August 24, 2014 #37 Share Posted August 24, 2014 this is the second thread going right now where people are talking about how bad the coffee is that RC serves ... and it IS horrible .. we were on Explorer this past June and all of us noticed ... don't remember it being this bad on our past RC cruises ... is this something new they've started doing ? Maybe its their way of just getting us all to go and pay for the better stuff I really hope they are watching this board like people say they do ... they need to so SOMETHING about that terrible coffee !! Had no problem with the coffee some years ago. In fact, it was quite good. I think it's only since they started using the Seattle's Best. I still drink a cup or 2 at breakfast ('cause I HAVE TO HAVE coffee!), but usually add some hot water to it. Used to enjoy a cup after dinner, but no more. CruiseMore1 Posted August 24, 2014 #38 Share Posted August 24, 2014 I keep hearing about this coffee. I am afraid of it. Oh my, if your last RC cruise was in 1997, brace yourself for the change in the coffee!
CruiseMore1 Posted August 24, 2014 #39 Share Posted August 24, 2014 because their coffees are the worst when brewed in the stores. Agree wholeheartedly on the Starbucks. (need a yuck smiley!)
