HONESTLY- How much do you spend on a cruise other than cruise fare???

When I did the Epic in a studio the base price was $750, the cruise ended up being right at $1,000 (including insurance etc.) and I finished around $2,450-$2,500 total.

This included flight from PHL to Miami; 2 nights hotel, transportation, about $100 on Miami tourist things.

On the ship I added probably $250 in excursions, shows.

My Breakaway finished around $2,400. But this included bus to NYC- one night hotel, theatre ticket. Cruise was $1,400-1450 total after upgrade to balcony, less excursions, less on board spending this time.

Upcoming Breakaway will be a little less $819 for cruise so far ($545 base + insurance + fees) NY portion pushes close to $500 (hotel, broadway ticket, some meals, bus etc..)

Plus i get final number from Cash Left with - Cash Brought home.

If I am going to Miami I add $1,500 estimate, from NYC add $1,000 to be conservative (to include extra ship + NYC charges)

We only cruise from ports we can drive to. NY or NJ or Florida ports while we spend the winter there so there is the parking cost (in NY or NJ we take a bus). No bingo, spa or photos for us. Probably 3 specialty dining nights. I'll have 2 or 3 drinks per day. DH buys soda pkg and some specialty coffees. We do plan and purchase excursions on our own, most often just transport to a nice beach. Unless we're in our favorite island Bermuda. We will likely spend $300-400 there as costs are high there. We will tip extra beyond DSC for good service on board. Average is another $100-150. We always buy insurance just for medical. We could afford to lose the cost of the cruise but we are not covered for medical out of the USA so will not risk costs that could easily run $50,000 or more for emergency evac or hospitalization. We usually have some OBC but I would say our average total on sail&sign card to be $400-500. That includes DSC as we don't prepay.

My last cruise DH didn't come with me I went with my SIL and niece. Cruise fare was about $650 plus DSC which I paid before hand. While on the cruise I used $100 singles I had brought for tips 1 spa service $140 including tip 2 specialty dining $55 I had a casino drink card so probably only had about 3/4 drinks outside of casino $30 carton of cigs $25 bought a few things $50

Total for just me $400 and drumroll...............casino $ (let's just say it enabled me to book my next cruise with a comp balcony and $150 free play.

I don't think we've ever gotten out without at least $1000 at the end of the week. That is true when it was the two of us or the five of us, lol! We're trying to do our November cruise on the cheap so it will be interesting to see what our final bill is. The only big expense will be our day trip to Disney for $179pp but I'm not dropping that as I LOVE Disney and haven't been since 2010. Those darn drinks add up quick and it doesn't seem like it when it's $14-16 at a time.

I've only cruised twice, both times on Carnival, but saved onboard by not buying any of their daily photos. Carried the max allotted wine onboard when we first boarded. Smuggled RumRunners for my husband's Brandy nightcap, and my spiked fruity drinks (lemonade or some kind of punch is always available and free). Splurged on the balcony cabin, though.

Got Carnival's onboard credit card, which was to have given you $$ off your next cruise. Turned out to be not exactly true, but kept the card anyway.

If I am traveling in Europe, my excursions- almost all independent- will add more costs. If I'm in the Caribbean or somewhere where I've been a number of time (Alaska), I have few expenses since I'm over "seeing everything there is to see". I think the islands in Caribbean, while wonderful, all sort of look the same and I'm not into any of the shopping or souvenirs from that region.

I'm also quite certain that cruiselines shiver when they see that we have booked. We get maybe one bottle of wine, a few necessaries from their gift shops, eat only at the MDR and buffet and don't get involved in bingo, art, etc. We went on a 14 day trip this year and struggled to spend our $100 OBC. I have become quite practical about extra expenses and their relative value and my appreciation of them. Photos onboard are out. I do make a photo book of each trip when I return and those are my treasures.

Wow some people spend a lot and others try to do it for nothing. I think we have ranged from $600 up to $1200. Probably more on earlier cruises and less now ,when you understand what the ship has to offer. Watching some of these people who flock to the tables with the watches and crap jewelry is enough entertainment for me

Isn't that a scream? With all the people packed around the counters, pushing and shoving, the security people always look a little panicked!:D
