kybluecruiser Posted September 22, 2014 #81 Share Posted September 22, 2014 After about 90 minutes of party and FUN FUN FUN, I headed back to check on Nana. Wingie had come down to join us at the party -- so I knew Nana had been alone about as long as I trust her to be. (She has Alzheimer's and in a wheelchair. I think cruising is the BEST way to share a vacation with her. She can have some time alone, and so can I, but she gets to see ports... Enjoy the sun and fun... Eat to her heart's and her diabetic diet's content -- with a few cheats!!! And make memories for me to hold forever!!! She will be 90 in February, and I hope to take her for a birthday cruise! I also have a cruise for next September booked for us. I always keep her S&S card around her neck on a lanyard, and her name and cabin # on her wheelchair -- in case she wanders and doesn't know where she is!!) On the way back, I take Deck 4 for a bit of new scenery... and see our table, already set for dinner! Tonight is Elegant Evening and the Captain's Celebration... We got ready for the evenings festivities... meeting the Captain: A fuzzy photo of Skip with us... Nana wandering off after a disagreement with Wingie... Bringing her back, and she's still not happy with Wingie... She says she's too bossy! I love this!!!!!!! Alzheimer's is somehting near and dear to my heart. I lost my grandfather to the disease. How awesome for you to take her on a cruise. I wish i had discovered cruising before my grandparents had passed.
CarribbeanTina271 Posted September 23, 2014 #82 Share Posted September 23, 2014 Loving your review! Your Mom is precious!! Looking forward to the rest! Sailing on the Magic Oct 12 for the first time! Can't wait!
LambKnuckles Posted September 23, 2014 Author #83 Share Posted September 23, 2014 The Show on Elegant evening is Dancing with the cast. We didn't do this -- but I thought it looked fun. We had Early Seating and this started at 7:30 -- so it would have been a rush to get there in time. The FunTimes says: Ever want to be a star? This is your opportunity to learn some moves with the Carnival Magic dancers, with a live show band. The later night fun is the Red Frog's Caribbean Beach Party on Lido deck at 10pm. But we left the dinner, walked through the photos and Gift Shops, and took Nana back to bed. At meet our towel animal of the night: We don't have too much farther to go... Once Nana was settled, Wingie and I went out to watch the Gender Showdown with Skip in the main show lounge. OH MY!!! This was great!!! Trivia questions, and running around the audience to get help with the answers, and then an activity -- like put the ship medal between your thighs (or a bit higher) and walk across the stage, and release it into a hurricane glass, trying to make it in! Picture that in your mind and you'll be laughing. A gal with a dress... a guy with jeans... etc... Or another one was blow up and balloon, tie it off, and pop it by between two gals or two guys inside a hug... then blow up another balloon, tie it off, and pop it between your partner's bum and your front... yes, I'm sure you can imagine two gals or two guys... like standing and spooning. Then the last part of this race is blow up the last balloon, tie it off and pop it by sitting on it -- you know, just normal... We laughed and roared and laughed some more as we watched!!! After this, up to the Lido to see the Beach Party beginning -- and then off to get ice cream for Wingie and iced tea for me!! Now off to sleep and wake to our approach to Roatan. Nana and I woke -- and tried to be quiet and let Sheryl sleep... I woke BEFORE sunrise and found the moon...
LambKnuckles Posted September 23, 2014 Author #84 Share Posted September 23, 2014 While I was out on the front deck, Nana peeked out... gives you an idea of how well someone can see it, when it's dark outside and the inside lights are on. If you ever book this cabin -- BE SURE TO CLOSE YOUR CURTAINS AT NIGHT, before you get ready for bed!!! Or you may be giving a free show for anyone outside... Now, the moon is so bright that it's just glowing over the Roatan shoreline! And the sunrise is trying to start...
LambKnuckles Posted September 23, 2014 Author #85 Share Posted September 23, 2014 You can tell we're close to land when we see a boat... Yes, it's zoomed in in my lens -- but still... we're getting closer and closer to the pier. More shore views... Carnival's private beach... at 6:25 in the morning... No seeing the sun yet... LambKnuckles Posted September 23, 2014 Author #86 Share Posted September 23, 2014 A few other folks are awake... The foot bridge, if you don't buy the "Flying Chairs" excursion ticket for $11.99. And if you look carefully, you can see the flying chairs above the bridge... Is that the sun, trying??? Are we going to see it before the hill blocks it?? The whole beach and nature walk area... FINALLY... EUREKA... the sun shows it's face!!!
LambKnuckles Posted September 23, 2014 Author #87 Share Posted September 23, 2014 Let's zoom in to be sure... More folks are watching now... we're backing in... There's the shopping village! So colorful and pretty!!! I've zoomed in on the Liberty. She'll make port with us! Now she's here... right along side the pier, last one in... she'll be the first one out! Wingie's heading out to snorkel with some friends from our group, and Nana and I take our time and eat in the MDR. I see some folks already heading out to the beach... Thinking it might be Wingie, I zoom in and snap a photo... but no, it's not her!
LambKnuckles Posted September 23, 2014 Author #88 Share Posted September 23, 2014 We're not moving at all. We fast to the dock... How can this be right??
LambKnuckles Posted September 23, 2014 Author #89 Share Posted September 23, 2014 I didn't snorkel with Wingie... but I've captured some shots the group took of her... This is taken from the beach, where you get off the chair lift... Wingie in the water, still inside the ropes at the private beach...
LambKnuckles Posted September 23, 2014 Author #90 Share Posted September 23, 2014 Then they swam out, under the ropes, and found a wonderful undersea adventure...
LambKnuckles Posted September 23, 2014 Author #91 Share Posted September 23, 2014 Then they dries off, had lunch on the beach (you'll need cash for this) and headed back... Nana and I went to the shopping area -- and that's when I found two stores I dind't like -- nothing was priced and it was haggle for everything... and other stores with local-made items and souvenirs! Wingie and I arranged to meet at 1:30 to shop. She was looking for jewelry... Here's our ship from the shopping area: and zooming in the FUN FUN FUN slides... LambKnuckles Posted September 23, 2014 Author #92 Share Posted September 23, 2014 There's also a photo opp place... And I know how much Wingie loves her shrimp!!! And me too! Do you see these long, shiny fish... They're right at the pier... They looked really interesting! ... She found her jewelry at Effy's. A ring with a rainbow of colors of sapphires and a necklace to match! With that came a free jaguar key ring and a white topaz necklace (for EACH of us!). And now, we're heading back to the ship, check in with Nana, take a shower, relax, and get ready for dinner. Be back on Board is at 5:30, and sailaway will be while we're at dinner at 6:00. And looks what awaits us, when we come back aboard... Thank you and it's perfect timing... we each get two!!! It's about 4:30 now, so we head out to watch the runners and stragglers! Since the Liberty must leave first, they'll be the ones to watch!! But there are still folks coming in from the beach:
LambKnuckles Posted September 23, 2014 Author #93 Share Posted September 23, 2014 It looks mighty empty over there This is with the fixed lens and no zoom -- so maybe you can get perspective hat yellow building is the Effy store... it and most of the shopping looks empty! Da plane boss... it's coming over head... He's way over at the beach, walking the pier looking for anyone left...
LambKnuckles Posted September 23, 2014 Author #94 Share Posted September 23, 2014 (edited) he found someone... And some late snorkelers... Opps! An ambulance is coming... sirens on! Through the security area... And he backs down to the Liberty Edited September 23, 2014 by LambKnuckles
LambKnuckles Posted September 23, 2014 Author #95 Share Posted September 23, 2014 The empty stretcher is heading in for someone... They picked up their patient and off to the hospital. We said a quick prayer for whoever and for whatever... The gangway is rolling in... They're off!
LambKnuckles Posted September 23, 2014 Author #96 Share Posted September 23, 2014 BUT WAIT!!!! They forgot me... Oh no, what do I do now??? He chats as he waits for his options... BYE!!! I saw him our our ship, at Guest Services the next morning in that same outfit! I wasn't brave enough or nosy enough to ask... But I did hear him ask, what do I do? And they said, it's all arranged.
