Price Drop -Carnival wont help

HMMMMMMM.... Interesting..... Today I submitted 5 ES price adjustment forms. 2 under the Choose N' Cruise sale which ends today and 3 under the Military Appreciation Sale that ends 11/6. I got a response that it will take up to 7 days to process or something like that.

Let's say they process my ES requests tomorrow (the day after the Choose N Cruise sale ends). I wonder if they will automatically deny it and make me submit proof of the fare on 11/5?

To further complicate things for me, my cruise is booked through a TA Group whom I've used for over 10 years... due to all of my family and friends I've referred over the years, she's actually added me as an agent under her CCL account.... so, I believe the ES price adjustment process may be slightly different than a guest booked directly through CCL.....

Not sure if you will have to show proof or not, but I always screen shot the page just in case

Booked ES back in January '14 for our January '15 cruise. Paid off 2 of my 3 cabins early (final payment due date is not until 11/11). Under the recent National Cruise Week Sale, price went down $90 per cabin. Because it was before final payment date, I assumed I was going to get a refund to my CC, but instead got OBC on 2 cabins and the balance owed on the 1 cabin I had not paid in full was reduced.

Yep that's exactly how it is supposed to work. Once you have paid in full there is nothing to reduce so you get OBC instead.

we booked about 2 weeks ago and chose the option where you save $ and let Carnival choose your room. 3 of us got a guarenteed OV for $135 for the 1st 2 and $99 for the 3rd. The other Booking was 2 guaranteed INT for $125 each. We got our rooms assigned yesterday and we are on deck 7 Empress.

Today those same gaurenteed rooms are $100 for the guarenteed OV and $93 for the gaurenteed INT.

I called my PVP and after speaking with her manager she couldnt do anything. She told me to call customer service. I did and the only thing they could do for me is for and additonal $20 per stateroom , the can offer me $50 OBC and drop us down to deck 4 Riveria. This doesnt make sense to me. Why would I have to pay additional when the rooms are cheaper right now???

Well, 102 posts ago, the OP complained. He's never been back to even clarify what special he booked under. No matter which, he got a good deal. He just did not understand about reductions in price not happening due to the small timeframe from booking till sailing when deals like that are offered.

No more to story, rule is once final payment is made no changes can be made. So, we are penalized for paying before it is due...

I'm cruising the end of January on the Breeze. I paid my cruise off months ago. Rates have gone down quite a few times. I'm sitting on about a thousand dollars OBC from price drops so the once payment is done you get nothing is wrong. Once I see the drop I call or email my PVP and usually within the hour I have a new confirmation email with the lower rate and added obc.

Bet you booked Early Saver. That's the only way that is possible and that's why I always book that rate.

Actually, before final payment date, that is true of any rate. After final payment date only ES gets a price reduction (in OBC).

Yes I know. But the only way they would receive OBC is to get price drops after final payment, thus it would have to be ES. Any price drops before final payment come off the total amount due.

Nope, I booked military. My final payment date date is not for another week but I paid the cruise off four months ago. First rate drop they put the money back on my credit card. The other rate drops I told my PVP that I wanted obc. Been getting credit ever since. I'll take as much obc as I can get since I can withdraw it in the casino for going ashore.

Really what you are doing is moving your own money around instead of getting money back that you've already paid them.

I'm not losing any money. If I get it back they put it in my credit card and than I go board and buy drinks, etc. and they charge my credit card. Leaving it on allows me to use the points to get more obc.

You got lucky as most times they will only refund your card which I think is kind of messed up because if you keep it as OBC you're more likely to spend it on board. Not necessarily in my case, but for most people. Maybe you'll get a title more this week.

Anyway, the only rate you are entitled to OBC after final payment DATE (I should have specified) is ES.

I disagree. I've never had an issue when dealing with price drops. I think the problem is the amount of people that do not understand the rules that accompany the fare they booked.

You are so right. The problem is not Carnival it is people trying to get price drops when there fare is not Early Save. I am so glad Carnival is starting to crack down on their rules. I am tired of booking Early Saver to get price drops then see all these other people who did not book Early Saver and Carnival giving them price drops when they should not. I also wish Carnival would stick to their rules and not allow Early Savers to price match to guaranteed rates.

Don't know what I booked, where does it say on my invoice. My issue is that I paid before final payment was dur, had I not paid I could cancel or change anytime up to the due date, whatever rate that is. And I am a she not a he.

It doesn't matter if you've paid off the cruise BEFORE FINAL PAYMENT DUE DATE. If it's before final payment due date, you should still be able to get price drops or even cancel without penalty unless you're booked Early Saver.

Because we paid off our cruise early, I was asked if I wanted credit on my CC or OBC. I chose OBC.

Thanks Sparky.....I am not asking or complaining about anything that is out of the scope. They gave me some obc, but not enough to make up for the price difference....

Are you booked early saver? I'll ask again.

If you are before final payment date why not just cancel and rebook?

I looked at my original invoice, it doesn't say, I booked it myself. Lat year when we waited until about now the ship was full for Christmas week so we did a 7 day on NCL and thought the service was so bad, so this year we booked early and that came back to bite us in the butt....
