sunsetme Posted November 26, 2014 #1 Share Posted November 26, 2014 Is there a long wait for tables for 2? Do they give you a beeper?
Mom33 Posted November 26, 2014 #2 Share Posted November 26, 2014 No problem for us. We got a table for two in the Symphony dining room around 6:00 on the nights we dined in the dining room. We never waited. This was during the spring Caribbean season.:D
kenorus Posted November 26, 2014 #3 Share Posted November 26, 2014 we were on the royal for the repo in october. Unless you got there around 6 it was hard to get a table for two. at seven you got a beeper and had to wait.
Sea Day Cruiser Posted November 26, 2014 #4 Share Posted November 26, 2014 (edited) If you go early, around 6 PM at the latest, you probably will have no problem. If you prefer dining later you will have a wait anytime between 6:30 and 8 o'clock. Yes, they will give you a beeper. kendon Posted November 26, 2014 #6 Share Posted November 26, 2014 I have found that due to the number of dining options, getting a table in the MDR was not a problem at all. Little to no wait.
Loonbeam Posted November 26, 2014 #7 Share Posted November 26, 2014 On our recent trip, no wait until about 6 - moderate waits 6-7 because the rooms are filled and the early attendees still eating, short waits until 7:30, no wait after that
Jimbo59 Posted November 27, 2014 #8 Share Posted November 27, 2014 If you want to eat at about 7:00 to 7:30 PM you may need to wait for a table. After a few days we learned that you can make a standing reservation if you go to the dining room and speak to the manager. Just calling the dine line doesn't work, they tell you to just show up; when you do, you get a pager and have to wait 15 - 30 minutes.
Loonbeam Posted November 27, 2014 #9 Share Posted November 27, 2014 Standing reservations are at the discretion of the MD. Fabio was not allowing them between 6 and 8 on the Royal in October (you could have one at 5:30 but didn't really need it unless you wanted a specific waiter pair) BTW if you do want a good waiter, ask for Gilman. Loonbeam Posted November 27, 2014 #11 Share Posted November 27, 2014 You got lucky. 7:00 - 7:45 were the worst lines on ours. Different itinerary tho. We had a standing reservation at 7:30 PM on the October 25 cruise.
Morisnfan Posted November 28, 2014 #12 Share Posted November 28, 2014 I'm confused why people get a standing reservation after choosing anytime dining. We've noticed this happening quite a bit and I wonder if it's more for convenience time wise , or if a great waiter/table was discovered the first night. We've done both traditional and anytime. I like both, but find much nicer service with traditional. Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app
Loonbeam Posted November 28, 2014 #13 Share Posted November 28, 2014 A bit of both? Some people really want TD but at their time. That's not the way AD is supposed to be but some MDs allow it. Sometimes its a matter of accommodation, like a messed up booking. And yes, sometimes you find that waiter combo that just clicks. I still prefer the way Jacques did it on the Island. Other than one special case, you could request a standing time, or a standing table area, but not both. If you wanted both, you had to call daily.
