Venting - "free cruises" are out there again

Almost all gamblers down play there loss and understate it. Carnival wins with serious gamblers. So it's cheaper to just buy your cruise. Sure someone will get lucky in the casino but most will not. I gamble some and my friend is one of those they love because he gambles big, he will get it all for free but not until you lose 4 times or more what they are giving you. Don't be envious of the free offers but instead realize they risked or lost the money to earn it.

Besides if I want to go to a casino I'll do it on land, why spend all your vacation time in the casino hitting a slot machine button

Now I'm ticked off. A friend of mine that I took on a cruise--I paid her way, is getting better VIFP offers than I am. She's only gone on the one cruise that I took her on, because their always financially strapped.

Holy Crap, I thought I had it hard.

At least give the loyals offer(s) period. A person who has gone on just one still needs to earn theirs.

Imagine you were a business owner. Would you give free products to someone that already regularly gives you their business? Of course not. You give freebies to the person that doesn't give you business to try to entice them into using your product or service. Especially carnival as they make more money off a new cruiser vs someone that sails regularly and won't spend as much on the extras.

I always get a chuckle out of these threads. They are always full of the people that cruise several times a year complaining. Maybe instead of complaining that you didn't get a freebie, try being grateful that you have the money to cruise so often.

People really need to understand that the mass market lines (ncl, rc, carnival) don't really care about your loyalty to their brand. They are in business to make as much money as possible, not pat you on the back for only sailing their line.

We have sailed 73 times with Carnival since May 2005 and as far as free cruises are concerned we have also received NADA!

73 cruises on Carnival in less than 10 years. That is significant. WOW!

I hope you took cruises like $299 for 7 days, $199 (or less) for 3,4,5 days. They weren't completely free cabins but were rates far better than the average across all ports/ships/destinations booked by the masses each year.

I can't imagine taking 73 cruises on one cruise line. I would guess that you live very near port cities, and have the flexibility to book very last minute too.

Many businesses offer free or significantly reduced rates for repeat business. Especially for customers where a spending/frequency profile has been established. Also, firms will offer incentives for base services in an effort to boost perhipheral sales where needed for their business needs/justifications.

We hope Carnival starts to consider overall spend per completed cruise, if they haven't started already using bigger data techniques.

Did I say freebie????? No I did not, maybe a break ever now and then...proud I have the $$$ to take several cruises a year, YES, YES I AM....complaining, I don't think mentioning something you would like to get would rate as a complaint....am I going to book another cruise when I'm on the ship in August probably so, our children, their spouses and children are wanting to take another family (cruise) together... SO I hope you get another chuckle out of this thread of yet another person who cruises numerous times a year and complains that they can't get a 'FREEBIE!' Have a wonderful day/night..

This is about "offers." Offers for appreciation of business. I, too, did not say "freebies." I've been in business for many years. Not only do I know how to get new business, but I also know how to keep existing business. Growth in business does not exist on new business alone. It's a combination of retention and new business.

I'm happy for people who score free cruises . . . but why not me? I'm a loyal customer, I'm platinum, I spent some money in the casino and shops. . . . I keep reading on here and in real life hear of people getting free cruises, for example: a woman I know went on a "free" 8 day cruise on the Splendor in August. Tonight I learned she scored another "free" cruise, this one 8 days out of Florida in March. Of course "free" means pay $100, get $100 credit and pay taxes and port charges - still a great deal. For the past several months I've checked my VIFP status multiple times a day for offers - none. Then a few weeks ago there was a ridiculous offer of a $25 with $25 credit 2 days cruise originating in California. Absolutely not worth the air fare and time to travel across the country for a short 2 day cruise. Great for people living in that area, but from the East, no way. Apparently Carnival threw out a few crumbs to some of of Platinum cruisers. Not appreciated by me at all - why can't I get a "free" cruise like so many others are getting?

Don't feel to bad. i have been a Platinum cruiser for probably the last 5 years and you want to know what I get for offers?

This is what it says on my VIFP page. "There are no offers available at this time."

I don't even get a past guest offer.

^^^^This is what is on my page. Dh was getting some offers but that fell off of the board. Never a free cruise though.

Just curious, I do not do FB, but has anyone mentioned this it JH? What did he have to say? If I did FB I would be giving him #@$@$#@ since people on our roll call are paying nothing for their cruise and I paid full price.:mad:

We don't take 3 or 4 day cruises, with 516 days spread over 73 cruises our average days/cruise is slightly over 7 days on Carnival. We are retired and do live within a 1 day drive to 8 ports so that is very convenient. We also have taken 30 cruises with Royal Caribbean since 2000 so it is not only Carnival. We have had some attractively priced cruises and some exotic itineraries that weren't cheap.

That seems wrong. Someone is throwing the wrong switches in promotions department lately.

not sure if you play the tables, how it works, i pay penny slots ( which in fact are not penny at all, they are $2.50 per spin or you are bidding max)

my last several cruises have been free, as follows:

casino offer free interior received from casino last night of cruise - have to accumulate 5000 points on slot play for free interior

Just like on slots 1500 points gets you a free drink card.

anything over 5000 the offer goes up, could be inside with cash, ocean view, ocean view iwth cash, etc.

In June we did Alaska for nothing but taxes approx 170.00, in sept did Caribbean another free interior from the casino while on alaska cruise. While travelling in france they called and asked if we could move ( we were in a handicapped interior with the windows knowing we would have to move if needed) they gave us free balcony instead.

On sept cruise received another free interior with cash, which we are taking Jan 24th.

Nov i did a pay 90 for occean view, and receive OBC so basically free. on that cruise, earned another free cruise for Mar 2, free balcony with 1000 cash once on board. I received that from the cruise in September, however didnt spend a penny of my own money , got 300 casino cash and turned it into 1400 by the first night.. by end of cruise i cashed out for 5000.00 USD, actually had it as high as 6100.00

havent paid for a cruise in many cruises, an dnot paying for my upcoming january or march...

its all about points, not what you spend of lose, 5000 points gets you a free cruise on teh slots IF YOU DONT have a cruise already booked. If you have one booked, forget it, you get nothing, which is strange.

Maybe this is the secret! Maybe only people with NO cruises booked get the offers. We always have one booked and never get any good offers.
