Kamloops50 Posted December 17, 2014 #2 Share Posted December 17, 2014 The concrete work is only about 80% on the locks.
BillB48 Posted December 17, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted December 17, 2014 A short video of the first of the gates being jockeyed into position. Should have mentioned it yesterday, but this gate is located in the upper level of the Agua Clara Locks (Atlantic side locks).

It was a great cruise and itinerary. Yes they certainly are huge, weighing over 3000 tons each! By comparison one leaf of the heaviest of the present locks miter gates "only" weighs in a little over 700 tons.

BillB48 Posted January 24, 2015 Author #11 Share Posted January 24, 2015 Fairly short video of the first of the gates being installed on the new Pacific Locks. This gate is the upper most gate, in another article they termed the position as "lock head one." In other words it will be the gate that separates the lock from Gaillard Cut (Gatun Lake).
