Fog in Tampa

Unusual shot of Tampa Bay this morning on the Port Cam. The radar shows absolutely nothing moving in Tampa Bay all the way out beyond the Skyway.

We have the same fog here in Southwest Fl. (West of Ft. Myers).. There are 11 or 12 sailboats anchored in the basin behind our home, but I can only see the three closest to our dock.. None of them will be moving for a while.. Fog should be cleared out by 10 or 11 a.m.

 

It's been unusually warm here.. The kids were running around in their shorts & t-shirts on Christmas day

We once lived & played in the frozen (well half frozen) tundra, but moved down here to get away from it.. Still miss snow at Christmas time though..

 

Fog is gone & it's going to be a beautiful day today..

 

It should be lovely leaving either Tampa or Fort Lauderdale by ship this afternoon..

One winter the fog in Tampa Bay was so frequent and so bad that we started checking a live map of the ships coming in to see who wasn't going to make it in before the fog settled and who would have to wait until daylight to enter Tampa Bay. They'd anchor a ways off of the mouth of the bay and wait. A couple of times it was early afternoon before a ship docked.

 

Here's hoping it's not that way for those with upcoming cruises :D:D

A number of years ago we were sailing on the OLD Nieuw Amsterdam. The day before we were to begin our cruise, it was really foggy. Fortunately the fog was gone by the next day.

Also have had fog in San Diego a few times. Ships arrived late and we were late boarding the ships.

I hope we are not late boarding. Isn't there a playoff game scheduled for Sunday Afternoon? I know that is where dh will be, watching the game!!!

The ships arrived late in Tampa by 2 hours on Dec 7th. We did not board the Ryndam until 1 PM. That caused a huge rush of folks to the Lido Restaurant and they temporarily ran out of some of the food dishes.

We never wanted to take a chance with the fog and whenever we were to disembark in Tampa, we always booked a hotel and stayed at least one day post cruise.
