Balcony or $650 OBC?

I would at least change to an OV, but a balcony is our choice every time. I can't deal with the total darkness all the time and the cabin just seems so crowded with just the two of us, so I can't imagine what it would be like with 4 people.

 

If you get an OV you can at least see what's going on outside and when it's daylight etc. I know I enjoy taking a nap here and there on a cruise and with an inside, if my husband came back to the room, he'd have to turn on a light and I know I would wake up with that, but somehow daylight doesn't bother me.

 

Our first cruise was in an inside and we swore we would never do that again, and so far we haven't. I know we are balcony snobs, but we both enjoy going to on the balcony in the evening and just star watching. It's our own piece of heaven and just not the same going out on the deck at night with a lot of others.

 

Have fun on your cruise and if you take the OBC, I think you can go to the guest services desk to get the cash. You don't have to do it in the casino and I have read that the casino won't do this if you don't gamble some, but I don't know as we do spend money in the casino.

I think $650 is too much to upgrade to the balcony, even though it would be great. A window would be nice enough, so I guess that's what I'd do just because we don't do insides anymore.

And, yes, you can in fact cash it out at the casino. I did it last year and left with more money than I came with :p

 

 

Does anyone know how to do this if you are playing cards and want to avoid the 3% fee? I read something about being able to use the slots to access the money and then cash out at the cage. Im not really a slot player so I don't know much about them.

 

My understanding is that I can use the slots to w/d from the S&S to the machine......then, cashout and go to the cage to get chips.

 

Is this right?

I don't know where you get the chips from, but, yes. Put your S&S card in the slot, charge the amount against your room, do a spin or 2 and put it back into your Player Bank. Then go to the cage, get cash and buy your chips.

Keep the on board credit I did then the last week ended up upgrading to a cove balcony for $100 per person

I would take the OBC in a heartbeat! Having gone 7 cruises in OVs and insides and upgrading to a balcony for the 8th cruise, I thought it was a waste of extra money and so overrated, no offense to the balcony lovers :)

 

I can also say I've stayed in an inside cabin on a guy's trip with 3 of my friends. 7 days of four 20 something year old guys in an inside was a little more crowded than usual, but we were hardly in the cabin anyways, since there is so much to do on the ship. So if the OP is worried about space, yeah it might be a little tighter, but $650 of OBC would make up for that so quick!

Thanks for all of the great advise. We cruise in 32 days. I can tell you, I did nothing. Left all of the OBC of $644. So, being ES and just out of habit I kept checking. As of right now tonight - a balcony is cheaper than an interior. WOW! Called Carnival up, and they told me to submit my ES form and take the difference from my OBC. Bottom line - only taking away $250 from my OBC to upgrade from interior to a balcony and also confirmed none are obstructed view. Nice!
