I understand that when you have this classic package that this includes the 15% tip. if you don't have to sign anything every time you order a drink then how do the bartenders get their tips? I know some people give them a few extra dollars but what does the cruise line actually give them. Before they would get their 15% on each drink so im wondering if the bartenders are losing money on these packages?

Since some people never tip, and others tip additional anyway, if anything I suspect bartenders are making more money with the packages. Consider also that people are more inclined to order more drinks. All in all, a plus for them.

Even though you don't sign, they take your card and run the charge. That is how it gets connected to them.

Celebrity has not disclosed exactly how they distribute the 15% gratuity collected when packages are sold. There are occasionally statements posted on this forum which are either based on speculation or a discussion someone had with staff on board but, as far as I know, none has ever been confirmed.

Presumably the gratuities go into some sort of pool split among the staff involved. Some of the past comments have suggested these are split based on the volume or value of package drinks served. That seems logical but may or may not be the case.

Some cruisers do tip extra for good service either with each drink received, at the end of the night, or at the end of the cruise. If you are on a package you can do this in cash or by asking for a no-charge slip to add the extra gratuity to.

I thought I read on another post somewhere that the tips all go into their respective pool and get divided by those that participate in that particular pool. i.e. cabin stewards, dining room, bar tenders etc...

I don't know if cash tips across the bar are pooled or kept by the individual but I'm sure someone here knows.

We carry a lot of single dollar bills with us so that we can tip a few dollars for room service, a dollar a drink (we always have the package) at the bars and when possible in the dining areas for orange juice or special coffee. At the end of the cruise we always tip our waiters, room staff and exceptional bar waiters and staff. We have always had great service and I think the extra tipping is worth or the reason for that service.................We have in the past added a dollar or two to the bill extended for signature at a bar but the dollars are much easier.

Speaking with our friend who bartends at the molecular bar every time they swipe a card they get a portion of that 15% gratuity, I can't recall the exact amount they earn. To each there own but we always tip out to our bartenders on the last night of our cruise.

I think on Cunard the bar manager said a percentage of the tip goes to bar crew and the rest goes into a pool to be divided amongst those who won't get tipped like tender crew etc.

This has been discussed on numerous threads. Ask any employee and they will tell you anyhting and most times is not the real truth. I asked a few times and got different answers before I realized that it would be the same as if they asked me how much I made or how much money that I have. No matter how they earn their pay they are like others working for tips, they are alway receptive to more and don't want to tell you how much they make.

Let it rest and don't persue it, if you want to give them more they will gladly take it, if you don't want to they will still serve you the same and will survive.

happy crusing 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌞

We queried the tipping in the casino once. There was one dealer in particular that was really friendly, chatting to us, helping people who were new to Blackjack.

We often tipped him as we really enjoyed his company.

He explained that all the tips they put down the whole in the table were pooled and shared between all the dealers.

We thought that was bad because some of the dealers were steely faced grumpy pants.

So maybe tipping at the bar is done the same way???

Who knows how much of the gratuities we pay up front go to bar staff. I will have to ask how it works next time we befriend a barman in the sunset bar!!

I'm curious to know how they get tipped if you have the drink package that is a perk from the 123 go promo. When Celebrity charges and credits your booking they don't include the 15% gratuity in the price.

I believe the 15% is added to the 1.2.3. Go promotion......I have got a few quotes from TA on a 22 Aug cruise...Some of these quotes are fairly low..so low that One can't get the 1.2.3 Go promotion (Aqua class room) And when I add up the classic beverage promotion cost (with 15% added) the Gratuities paid and the ship OBC..works out to very close to the price has listed on their website
