WarmBreezes great bargain!!

I won't eat at places such as Golden Corral, apple bees, tgif, etc. to me that is fast food type establishments. Have to admit, Carnival remains to have that lobster and the baked alaska...although unfortunately I can't have gluten so no baked alaska and no chocolate desserts for me actually no desserts for me its all gluten. ugh!!

Carnival has a flourless WCMC.

Contact the special needs dept. They will have the maitre'd/head chef sit with you the first night and figure out what you can and can't eat. They will even make you special meals/desserts gluten-free!

To everyone that posted:

This thread is more for people who gamble and drink larger amounts. Obviously not everyone is going to be impacted. It is a critic forum for us to voice our complaints or words of encouragement, so to say don't cruise on carnival and see ya later would defeat the purpose of the forum.

To the person who said you should go to Vegas or Atlantic city. I have a family like most people on cruises. I'm not going to take my child to vegas or Atlantic city so a cruise is a happy medium.

I understand that customers like me (who gamble and drink) are a minority on the ship. However I would like to see the numbers on how much we spend vs the average cruiser who doesn't frequent the casino. I'm sure carnival runs those numbers so who knows maybe it is more profitable for them to not comp people like me and sell the room to someone else.

Loyalty should be top priority to any business. There are studies that show a company has to spend 3x the amount to get a customer rather than keep an existing customer. So I don't believe it isn't a priority to them.

Lastly, I only do about 1 "big" vacation a year. But I probably spend as much as someone who does 3. My wife and I do excursions, drunk, gamble and use the spa. It's a way for us to reward ourselves for the year. If carnival won't offer comparable perks we will go somewhere else

Ajee622 absolutely agree with you that young children don't belong in Vegas and the best means of a casino trip is a cruise. I also agree loyalty should be just as important especially if somebody is like me who doesn't need to count their change, but so far, Carnival casino does an excellent job in this area.

I can honestly say cruises are very economical, our upcoming trip to Aruba in July will be costing us around $14k for 8 nights and we are only two people. I could go on 3 cruises more if I didn't do this trip but I am counting on Carnival offering another casino deal later in the year.

Thank you, but I have My Time Dining so how would they know what time I am eating to assist me?

They bring you the menu the night before. Carnival was wonderful with my son who has celiac disease. They sent a person to the table on the first night and explained how it all works. DS had GF warm chocolate melting cake every night. They also have GF pizza on the lido and GF pancakes and breakfast items at the brunch. Our MDR waitress was also very helpful and knew her menu inside and out regarding GF options.

Not sure if I can eat the same cake every night but it sure be nice to have it a couple of nights, and thank you for this info.

Do they have gluten free pastries and such at the buffet breakfast, just curious it would be nice since I can't eat eggs either or dairy items. ugh lol

They didn't on the Valor last March. Only GF bread at the buffet. The MDR had the GF options and you had to order the night before.

Going on the Dream on the 15th, I'll let you know if its changed.

And also about the Match Play in the casino, we used them quite a bit last year. We got one with every Long Island Tea and Mai Tai.

can I add to my coment about the match play. Ask at the casino if this is the case, not a bartender. just a thought before we freak out. also ask them about the drinks on us card.

Exactly, I would take anything heard from an employee with a grain of salt. We all know people at our workplaces that love to spread doom and gloom and say things are going to happen (that never do). You dont know what their agenda is or what type of negative influence they are trying to spread.

If its going to happen, it will. Just enjoy yourself and dont worry about what "might" happen. Make decisions based on actual facts.

And I am a fellow gambler, drinks on us card earner and free casino cruise earner :)

Wow. Unreal. I've gotten 2 premier cruise offers recently. But if they axe the drinks on us I'll start using someone else.

For some nicer amenities aren't important. For me it is. When I go to Vegas I usually stay at the nicer hotels. I stayed at dumps when I was in college. Nothing wrong with it then but not trying to do it now.

Again - contact the special needs dept. They will work everything out with/for you. Do it at least 2 weeks before you cruise - it sometimes takes them a bit of time to get back to you. Have your booking # ready - it will speed things up.

Taking away the match play makes zero sense to me. We're not normally big gamblers, but did earn and use some match play coupons on our most recent cruises. I guarantee we spent 100% more than we would have in the casino without the match play. Even kept playing some once they were gone (and boy, did they go quick!)

Really hope this is just temporary.

Agreed. This would attract more people who normally wouldn't gamble into the casino to try to win their drink money back. I don't see really what this is accomplishing. Same with doing away with the free drinks. Most people who play long enough will never really win enough and in most cases lose everything.

Maybe it has something to do with using your drink package on the classic cocktails and then using the receipt to get the match play. Even if you are only drinking 8 or 9 of your 15 allowed drinks per day you could still order all 15 drinks and maybe pour a few out just for the $5 match play. That would be $75 in match play a day and what is the cost per day of the drink package?

Yes you could but assuming this you would still have to win the hand of blackjack or whatever game you play. On any given hand of blackjack you have a 47% chance of winning so the odds still wouldn't be in your favor.

Also you get enough drunk people in the casino I'm sure they aren't just playing match hands and then leaving.

Trust me they would lose over time.

But they could guarantee about $35 dollars back of the $75 dollars a day in Match Play from the Cheers package. If you played the craps $5 Pass Line versus the $5 Don't Pass Line each with match play on both bets. You would bet a total of $10. One of the bets would win an you would pull back $15, profiting $5. After 7 bets like this you would use 14 match play coupons and could potentially Profit $35. Your only risk would be if a 12 is rolled on the Come Out Roll (1-36 chance). In that case you would lose the Pass Line and the Don't Pass would push. Put think about it you only need 7 rolls and the probability of that hitting would be in 36 rolls. So more than likely you are going to get back $35 and if unlucky then $30 back guaranteed.

I don't believe you can use it on craps. On roulette and blackjack

I've played match bets in Vegas on the craps table. Match bets usually are allowed on any even paid bet for the tables. Would be surprised if carnival was different.

Can't compare vegas to carnival. Remember you get free drinks in vegas too. I see what you are saying. I know the dealers are trained to spot you doing this. I mean you could do the same on roulette. Bet red and black. Odds are its going to hit one. I wouldn't be surprised if the dealer saw this and said something though.

The only way around that would be if you were with someone. They are allowed to refuse a hedged bet if you is it. But if it was my wife and I, I don't believe they could tell us what to bet

Roulette would be a lot riskier. 38 spots on the wheel. Only 36 of them are red and black. When it hits the 2 green you would lose both the red and black bet, a $10 loss. And that would happen 1 out of 19 times. At least in craps the odds where a loss 1 out 36 times and even then the loss was just half the money bet not the total $10 since one the bets would push.

But sure if you and your wife played, one could play the Pass line and the other the Don't Pass line. Or (Red/Black for roulette) and I don't see how they would care about it. There might also be a house rule that only 1 match bet can be played at a time. In which case you would need a 2nd person for this type of play.
