mickeysgal Posted March 1, 2015 #1 Share Posted March 1, 2015 (edited) We will have a port stop in Cannes. On a prior cruise we walked through Cannes and went to Nice. This time we'd like to visit Monaco/Monte Carlo and Eze on possibly a private tour. It's going to be a long day so I thought a private tour would be more comfortable than stuck on a bus and I'm generally not a fan of ship tours. Any recommendations for private tours from Cannes? Rare Hlitner Posted March 1, 2015 #2 Share Posted March 1, 2015 My only thought is that you would probably want to join with a few others to keep the cost under control. Private tour guides/transportation are very expensive in the south of France. We have known couples to pay over 500 Euros for a car/professional guide. You might get some results if you cross post your ideas on the Cruise Critic Roll Call for your specific cruise. You do have a few other options. One would be to simply rent a car and drive yourself to places like Eze Village, St Paul de Vence (our favorite town in the region) and even Monte Carlo. Another option would be to use a train/bus combination (you would need the bus to get to Eze Village). Hank

crznfam13 Posted May 6, 2015 #8 Share Posted May 6, 2015 I am interested in this topic as well. We are traveling on RCCL soon and must choose between Eze and Montecarlo. I have seen a lot of people suggesting to pass on Montecarlo...true? We just thought it would be a cool sight to see. Or is there a way to see them both? Thank you! I have seen a lot of people suggesting to pass on Montecarlo...true? We just thought it would be a cool sight to see. Or is there a way to see them both? Thank you! You can definitely do both whether it be on your own or via a tour. And count moi among those that has no love of Monte Carlo. In fact, when we are on long driving trips in Europe and happen to be driving near Monte Carlo we bypass the city. That being said, there are other folks that like the city and it certainly makes sense to see a place (at least once) and draw your own conclusion. I think our main issue with Monte Carlo is that if we were to list fifty places we want to be in Southeastern France, Monte Carlo would be near the bottom of the list. There are just so many other spots we like better. Hank Edited May 6, 2015 by Hlitner
crznfam13 Posted May 8, 2015 #10 Share Posted May 8, 2015 Thank you so much! There is a Nice and Eze tour maybe we should explore instead. I'm not sure if it's allowed, but have you done any private tours in that area and if so, can you recommend any? We have never attempted that one as it doesn't feel trustworthy! (I have a nervous Nellie traveling with us!)
Rare bebe08 Posted May 8, 2015 #11 Share Posted May 8, 2015 We leave today (yay!!) for our Med cruise. We booked all of our tours through our roll call. Below is the info on the one for Cannes/Eze/Nice/Monte Carlo. Hope this helps. 9 hour tour provided by Riviera Premium Private Tours. "Full day Eastern French Riviera (9 hours) Drive by the famous Croisette boullevard (sea front of Cannes) and continue to Saint-Paul de Vence. Walk on the town's medieval walls and through its narrow main street to enjoy all the art galleries and boutiques. Many painters and actors have decided to live here because of the artistic atmosphere. Then drive to city of Nice along the "Promenade des Anglais" and its popular beach to end up in the old town of Nice built from the 13th century, free time to enjoy the flower market square. Your next stop will be the typical medieval village of Eze which is perched on top of a hill overlooking the sea (1200 feet above the sea). Walk to the top where a garden setting view point overlooks the mediterranean sea and, if you like perfumes, why not enjoying the fragrances of Provence at the nearby Fragonard perfume factory ? (free visit). Continue to the Principality of Monaco. Visit the old city of Monaco, with the palace of the Prince and the cathedral where Prince Rainier and Princess Grace got married. Enjoy the changing of the guards at noon. Drive one lap of the world famous Formula 1 Grand Prix circuit to reach Monte-Carlo and the famous Casino, the Golden Square, the very nice Hotel de Paris and hotel Hermitage. Feel this luxury and chic atmosphere.

stipmom Posted May 24, 2015 #13 Share Posted May 24, 2015 We just used Sylvie DiiCristos for our tour out of a cannes. She was wonderful. We found her here on the boards. She had different tour options which we shared with 6 others met on our roll call.
aqua Posted May 25, 2015 #14 Share Posted May 25, 2015 We were very happy with Riviera Together Tours. We pre-arranged a 6 hour tour with them for our cruise on the Nieuw Amsterdam. Cyril met our group of 4 at the pier in Monte Carlo with a very nice 8 passenger van. I imagine that the guide could meet you in Cannes instead. We had the opportunity to explore Eze and Nice, France before driving along the beautiful Riviera to return to Monaco. Cyril parked the van and took us on a walking tour of Monte Carlo. We enjoyed seeing the palace and other sights, including the church where Princess Grace was married. After the walking tour,Cyril drove a lap of the Grand Prix course. We were very pleased with our experience with Cyril and Riviera Together Tours. The agency worked hard to provide a wonderful experience.
