New Club for Teens?

Has anyone heard of anything yet regarding a new club for young adults age 18-20 on Carnival? At age 18 a lot of teens are still in High School and in my opinion it would be a great idea if Carnival provided a venue/club for these kids as well. Look at it this way: if you are a loyal Carnival cruiser and your kid started out in Camp Carnival, then went to O2, Now What ? Just Nothing? We are now supposed to throw our 18 year old kid into the bars and casino? This age bracket needs THEIR OWN CLUB. Carnival has a lot of space on all of these ships and I am sure they could re-dedicate some of it to a Super O2, Silver 02, or 1802, or pick whatever name for this age bracket that works, but the main idea is to NOT FORGET these kids! Comments welcome..... (but please, please don't tell me that these kids should just be happy to be on the cruise OK)

I think it would be good. It is kind of a gap at that age. I've got one that age now and his little brother coming right behind him next year. He was not so interested in the casino being that, at 18, he doesn't have much of a bankroll to work with. Mine at least has brothers to hang out with. I wonder about kids that come alone. I guess they find each other at the dance club?

No they do not need an 18 to 21 group. If they did that, then people would be wanting an 21 to 25 group. How about a senior group. Over 65 only. Of course them we would be hearing my 19 yr old is very mature and hangs out with a much older group. How do I get him in the 19 to 21 group. My daughter is 20 but her friend is 18, can they both get into the same group? Otherwise they will just hang out together.

When you reach 18 you are out of the kiddie activities. I am so shocked to keep hearing well they cannot but buy alcohol. So no way to have fun? It is so sad to me these young people have been so sheltered that they are at the jumping off place to adulthood and they do not have a clue.

You aren't even making any sense. The reason for this topic is that this is the only age group on a ship that has no night life meant for them....too old for teens and too young for the adult clubs. It is just an awkward age. I have a 19 year old daughter. She is a freshman in college and plenty mature. However, when we go on our cruise in May it will be more difficult for her than ever before to meet others her age. Specifically those under 21. It would just be nice if they had a gathering place. What in the world is sad about that?? She'll survive; but this was just an idea. This will also be the first family vacation she won't be able to go with her sister (who is 2 years younger) to the teen club. And her sister can't go with her to the adult venues. People on these boards are so wacko about this topic....don't comment if you don't remember what it is like to have an older teen/young adult.

Really? At 18, they are adults.

And someone else who hasn't parented a kid who turns 18 while still in highschool......as MOST of them do. My middle daughter will turn 18 summer after her junior year! I really don't want her with guys in their 20's at the dance club for example!

I find this a little funny.... Most girls under 21, especially on cruises, have plans in mind on how to get beverages on board and/or migrate to the older boys (21/22) especially during Spring Break. We cruised many years when my 2 daughters were in HS and college and they never were limited on their activities and they enjoyed being able to have a cocktail with us in ports. They can also do all ship/adult activity except purchase alcohol, when over 18, this includes going to night/dance club>

I think a 19-21 group would be a bit a bit of over kill

Never asked how or where from...lol (already new answer)

I think a 19-21 group would be a bit a bit of over kill but a meet and greet type welcome aboard get together might not be a bad idea (as an option for those who might want to attend)

Really!! This is one of the most ridiculous statements ever, I know a lot of 18-20 year olds who have been on cruises that were bored, because of the lack of activities for them.

I'm 22 right now and my first cruise was when I was 18. I was bored, to put it nicely. I don't think they need a full on dedicated space like the younger clubs but how about meet and greets on certain days in certain places. Close down the piano bar for a couple hours and serve virgin drinks only. Or the club from 9-11 and then start serving alcohol after. It gives them a chance to hangout and chat and then continue once friendships have been made to hang out once the place gets back to normal. They are adults and can go with adults just not buy alcohol. Just give them a chance to meet each other and give them time and space.

My 2 girls and son were never bored at that age... Granted my son at 19-20 was more interested in the 17-18 year old girls who had their own club...but still he couldnt go in

most of the time due to his age especially if crew was alert.

My daughters always gravitated to older young adults anyway even before they turned 18. So they had numerous evening options and hangout areas.

Our yearly Thanksgiving, X-mas or Spring Break Cruise was always looked forward toand never once did they express boredom concerns!! I also think its easier for young adults to meet during the peak cruise seasons as there are so many of them.

Thank you, a lot of teens, still need a structured environment at age 18 & 19 to meet & greet. The rest of the ship is set up for everyone else, i.e. adult comedy clubs, adult casino, adult shows, adult bars, adult nightclubs, adult piano bar, adult cigar bar, Serenity Area, - Club O2 for teens, Camp Carnival for kids etc, but Carnival overlooks or just ignores this age group.

CARNIVAL wake up please! A meet & greet everyday at different times would be a start for this. Or having different events every day would be a great idea for this age group. And dedicating a Carnival employee for 4 hours a day to this age group would be wonderful. There seems to be enough employees hawking drinks on deck all day, I'm sure someone can be found to be a teen coordinator for this.

I totally agree. My daughter is 18 and really missed having a place to hang out and meet people her age on our last cruise. At 18, they can't go to the teen club, can't go on the serenity deck, can't go to the bars. As previous people have stated, the 18-20 group is too old for the teen clubs and too young for the adult clubs. Soon, I will have 3 kids in the 18-20 age group, and all three said they don't want to cruise if there is no place for them to hang out and meet people their age.

I understand...especially during off peak. However during Spring Break and Holiday cruises....16 and 17 year old girls were being turned away from night/dance club by security and alot of the 18-21 were in there partying and dancing....so there is after hours activity. My teens even tried the old "fake ID" before cruise lines finally came up with the obvious solution to notate on the Sail and Sign cards those under 18. During peak vacation times the night club is always overrun by 18-25 year olds,,,,We cruised once or twice a year when my 3 children were in their teens and college years... Also, they never had boredom issues. so I am speaking from experience

Certainly there will be a lot of 18-20 year olds during spring break, often traveling with friends so they have peers to hang out with, but MOST cruises do not happen during spring break. Even peak holiday and summer times often have more families traveling together, so when there is only one 18 year old in the family and their younger siblings are having a great time in the kids and teens clubs while the poor 18 year old has no place to go to meet peers and has no desire to hang out with his or her middle aged parents, then yes, it's a big problem that the cruise industry needs to address.

So does this mean that my boys, who are 19, do not have to bring their license for ID and will be able to enter the nightclub with Sail & Sign card only? That would be convenient.

I'm wondering - by the way your first sentence reads - have YOU heard anything from Carnival about this possibility? It kind of reads like you have been expecting to hear news of this, but I've never heard of it being considered. Has anyone heard that it is actually in the works?
