Viking Star underway at last!

It is interesting to note that the latest Viking Star picture is showing that she is now registered in Bergen, whereas some earlier pictures on Marine Traffic dated December 2014 during its sea trials showed that she was registered in Valletta in Malta. I wonder if she will change back again after her ceremony in Bergen?

I think the SHIPYARD registered her first, and they have a shell company in Malta to work around exorbitant taxation in Italy. She had to be registered while they did sea trials, but Viking hadn't taken ownership at that point. I think the permanent registration will be Norway. I could be wrong.

She's carrying about 750 pax (+ or -) and the reason there were very few pax on deck at the time is it was rather chilly, @ 45 degrees Fahrenheit.

Thanks you so much for the pictures. The openness to the outside, the use of glass, lightness is amazing. That is what I was hoping in this new ship after reading the brochure and pouring ove the artist renditions of the Viking Star.

Looks like a beautiful ship. I love that it's modern and light, and that the furnishings aren't over the top.

 

As for the food offerings, I guess I'd better get used to the idea of Norwegian soup!

 

Our Star left Kotor a while back and is now heading to Santorini, the fourth country she'll visit. She's cooking now - going 17 knots!

Great shots of the Spa and Infinity Pool. Also first look of the Salon. I also like the small details like the raft built and used by Thor Heyerdahl on the Kon-Tiki expedition.

 

The Theater looks very comfortable for watching films, shows, or attending lectures.

 

Let's face it, the whole ship looks fantastic! I can't wait to see some cabins. Especially ours!

You found the first, real , inside photos of many areas of the Viking Star.

The spa area,with the snow room I am sure. it is the blue entrance on the left hand side. I love the infinity pool without water. And the shot of the sinks with the stunning art work above is wonderful. Nice art work on the walls.

I am still amazed,c everywhere there is openness and light.

Or this is a modern hotel somewhere.:p

Here I was, trying to get to sleep (it is way too late for me to be up) and then I see THIS!

 

It's obviously a lot of the spa area, plus a big sparkling shop, infinity pool (looking a bit small from above, but size isn't the point here!), some gentlemen from Kotor presenting a "welcome to Montenegro" letter (or something like that!) to the Captain, the ship against the wonderful (I've heard) cliffs in Kotor, some very attractive Taj Mahal type artwork, and the theater. It all looks great!

 

Wish I spoke Montengegrin (would that be Serbian? don't know) so I could read the article. But the pictures are obviously the best part - thank you so much!!

 

Anyway, thanks. If those Montenegrin photographers and press people only knew how much we're appreciating it - and you, too, Logistig8gr! Thanks!

 

Maybe you can dig up some photos from Istanbul next (due in Friday). If not, I imagine some of her first passengers will (staterooms, dining venues, etc.)

A brand new cruise ship "Viking Star" that last week in the shipyard "Fincantieri Marghera" near Trieste, handed over to its owner, US-Norwegian company "Viking Ocean Cruises" sailed yesterday in Kotor as just another port on its first commercial voyage.

 

"Viking Star", a ship of 47,800 tons, 227 meters long, embarked two days ago at his so-called. maiden voyage from Venice, and

after a visit to Dubrovnik, yesterday arrived in Kotor where its more than 750 passengers, enjoying the beauty of the Old Town

and attractions in the immediate surroundings of Boka.

 

"Viking Star" in the Bay this year will come four times, in the organization of maritime agency BCM from Kotor. On the occasion of the first arrival of the first ship of the new company, which is Kotor ranked list of their destinations, "Viking Star" visited Kotor

mayor Dr. Alexander Stjepccevic, harbourmaster Brkanovic Bruno, Director of the Port Authority of Montenegro Mladen Lucic, director of the Maritime Museum MA Mileva Pejakovic-Vujosevic and representatives of agencies BCM headed by Director, Captain Goran kittens.

 

With Commander "Viking Star" captain Gjulikom Svalastogom, they exchanged gifts and visited progodne new ship, the "News" are the only ones of all Montenegrin media, had an exclusive opportunity to visit the new cruiser that proudly Council Norwegian flag. Captain Svalastog is otherwise, at the head of the crew of 440 members consisting of people from thirty states, meats which the seamen from Montenegro.

 

"Viking Star" is the first ship of the newly established company "Viking Ocean Cruises" that specific offer, intends to position itself

in the market, counting on high-yield guests which is environmental awareness, willingness to learn and explore other cultures and explore new lands passion.

 

Debut of the company, the ship "Viking Star", as well as two of its twin, which is still being built in Italy, therefore characterized

by specific design, environmentally friendly diesel-electric propulsion, widespread use of solar panels as an additional source of energy, and Scandinavian practical and decorated with a measure of luxury the interior of which is characterized by the fact that all the passenger cabin on this board have their own balconies, which is not the case with other cruisers.

 

Another big difference is that this ship does not have a casino, which is an indispensable part of other cruisers, or large entertainment centers, but it has a library, a piano bar, theater and cinema, and the opportunity to sail while on it, the case of scientific lectures in various fields, or to are trained in top culinary supervised directly by the main boat chief-cook. In one of a number of boats restaurant you can enjoy a menu that changes according to gastrononmskom tradition of the country in which the ship had just arrived, and all ekskurzuije on land in which emphasis is placed on visits to museums, galleries, cultural and historical monuments and learning about the local culture , are included in the cruise price. Same is the case with all food, drink and use really impressive SPA center, and use Wi-Fi internet that is free, it is simply unthinkable to other cruisers.

 

Spa "Viking Star" was made in accordance with the best Scandinavian tradition and while Brcko in the pool or enjoy the thermal armchairs, watching the large fireplace in which a constant burning fire. To make the experience complete, the hot sauna, you can like real Norwegians and Swedes, enter directly in real snow and ice because the spa this ship contains a unique snow-room! "Vikinig old" has two pools, one aft, the first so-called. infinity or endless outdoor pool installed in one ship.
