Large Vehicle Parking Near Cruise Terminals?

Not sure if this has been asked and answered but here we go: I know the ports have parking. But I drive an 18-wheeler and it would be quite convenient for me if any of you knew of any place to park large vehicles (e.g. RV's, campers, etc) that might let me squeeze my tractor-trailer or at least just my tractor (no trailer) into a spot for the duration of a cruise.

 

I am primarily looking for places in Florida and Galveston, but would love to hear of other places too, if ya'll know of any?

I would think most port facilities will have parking for oversize vehicles.

This may be a stupid idea but could you leave it long term (week) in a highway rest stop?

I know Galveston does because I just looked it up for a camper for someone else. It is double the car rate per day. Happy cruising!

You can park at off port lots with a reservation in some cases, but the cost is higher - as much as $25 per day. At that rate, it may be considerably cheaper to fly and take a taxi.

There is space in the lot at Jaxport, probably costs twice the passenger vehicle rate. EM

I can probably get away with parking long term at a truck stop and taking a taxi. It would probably be easiest, but i thought i would get all the options.

If you've got a TWIC and are a frequent transporter of shipped goods, perhaps you could talk with a port terminal operator about leaving your tractor there. Probably not going to happen - but worth a try.

Check with one of the local trucking companies based in or near the port that you want to cruise from. You would probably find that they would park you for the duration and make sure that you had transport to and from the port. And they might even have a load for you to take out on the way back. And a load in. that way you can have more money to spend on the cruise.
