Formal night on 4-night cruise?

Considering a quick trip on the Emerald in October. The cruise is 4 nights, with the only port being Grand Turk. Does anyone know if there is a formal night on such a short cruise? Also, does one need a passport for Grand Turk? Thanks.

You don't NEED a passport but should you have to return be evacuated off the ship & return to the US on your own it would be a disaster. I don't know how long it would take but it wouldn't be a simple task.

Officially, there's no formal night on a 4-day cruise. However, on our 4-day Vancouver-Ketchikan-Seattle last week, the second night (sea day heading towards Ketchikan) was "Dress to Impress", with the usual ship's photographers portrait settings all over the Piazza, and the photographers floating through the dining rooms. Another came through the dining room on Ketchikan day doing solo headshots/portraits/whatever (we never looked at our shots).

I asked the same thing on my 4 night cruise and was told no, no, no. Even the website said no. However, they had "dress to impress" night on day 2 that looked and felt an awful lot like a formal night.

On our 4 day CB trip the dress to impress night there might have been 1/3 of the guys in the dining room in suit & ties & the rest in casual clothing. The women had just about anything & everything on. The 5 day CB cruise was slightly more formal but not by much.

We've done two of the short cruises recently, one four night over Thanksgiving and one three night just last week, and on both of them people seemed to dress up on the second night (sea day) even though the Patters said Smart Casual. Not everyone, but enough that you would not seem out of place if you wanted to dress up nor would you seem out of place if you chose not to.

Probably many of them did not know in advance there would not be a formal evening and thus packed clothes for one.

Yes, buried in the personalizer is a statement of how many formal and how many smart casual evenings there are, but I suspect most passengers never read it.
