Rare LadyL1 Posted August 14, 2015 #2 Share Posted August 14, 2015 Can anyone tell me where the Cunard shuttle stops in Hamburg please? Scriv When we were in Hamburg independently last year, we saw the Cunard buses stopping about 100 yards from the Rathaus (town hall), which is the centre of the city. laktex Posted August 15, 2015 #4 Share Posted August 15, 2015 Can anyone tell me where the Cunard shuttle stops in Hamburg please? Scriv If the weather is ok it is a pleasant walk into town. Also the City Tour bus has a stop in Marco Polo Terassen, 5 minute walk from the ship.
Scriv Posted August 15, 2015 Author #5 Share Posted August 15, 2015 (edited) Great, thanks for that. The plan is to visit Miniatur Wunderland in the warehouse district and then walk back to the ship, hopefully via a nice little place for a light lunch. "Oh Its Fresh" or "Carls" - both within easy walking distance.
Scriv Posted August 15, 2015 Author #7 Share Posted August 15, 2015 (edited) Fantastic! Thanks very much indeed Trevor. Do you also happen to know of anywhere which offers typically German or local specialities? Edited August 15, 2015 by Scriv
Capt_BJ Posted August 15, 2015 #8 Share Posted August 15, 2015 assuming QM is still at the old pier, MW is about 0.6 mile walk .... no biggie 2 warnings from our visit in June - we planned to spend an hour or two, and when we left after FIVE we felt rushed! - if you don't have tickets in advance, expect a wait to get into the exhibit. There is a nice place to wait (with free beverages) but during busy hours they limit how many can enter at a time. I think we waited about 30 minutes. The outside Market style places opposite the Rathaus are really local food & wine and very popular but I do not know over what period they do this. Wilbur1961 Posted August 17, 2015 #12 Share Posted August 17, 2015 Can anyone tell me where the Cunard shuttle stops in Hamburg please? Scriv Hello - we are thinking of doing a mini Cunard cruise to Hamburg next Jan from Southampton. Anyone know what time the cruise leaves on the first day - I know it's normally a 4-5pm departure but wondering as it's a short cruise anyway, would it sailaway in the morning? Thanks in anticipation!
Host Hattie Posted August 17, 2015 #13 Share Posted August 17, 2015 I've never heard of a morning sail away at the start of a cruise. It takes a few hours to get the ship empty and then full again !
Scriv Posted August 17, 2015 Author #14 Share Posted August 17, 2015 (edited) The programme will probably be like ours, Wilbur - Day 1 - Sailaway late afternoon Day2 - Sea Day Day 3 - Arr Hamburg about 06 30 and disembark Hamburg. This was the first leg of QE's cruise to the Baltic Edited August 17, 2015 by Scriv
Capt_BJ Posted August 17, 2015 #15 Share Posted August 17, 2015 footnote for readers who might be considering the short trip Hamburg to SH On our June trip the departure from Hamburg was delayed several hours due to a low tide ... seems the water level was too low for desired clearance where there's a tunnel ... so we sat pierside 'til around 10pm .... cut way down on the tourist boats escorting . .
