Just now on the Princess website their unlimited soda package says they have coke and diet coke, sprite and diet sprite. I have never seen diet sprite on the ships- is this new and does anyone know if they really have it? It would be lovely to have another diet soda option!

But the Unlimited soda package- where diet sprite is mentioned- does not include cans, right?

That is were the issue is:(. I have attempted the unlimited on the last 2 cruises. I cannot have diet coke due to kidney disease. Cruise 1: the beverage manager argued that it is for Diet Sprite...which they did not have any of. I explained that Sprite Zero is the same...then the whole in a can became an issue. Finally won and was able to get the Sprite Zero. Cruise 2: Same issue unless I went to the casino bar...I finally gave up and had the Circle Host deal with it and got a refund.

We were on Caribbean Princess last week and the Royal 2 months ago and they didn't have it available except in cans, which are not included in the unlimited soda package.I don't think they should say it is included when it never seems to be available.

We were set to get the unlimited soda pkg on our August cruise on the Star but they were only offering the unlimited soda and more pkg with the shakes, smoothies, etc that is a few dollars more a day so we declined. We ended up spending maybe $10 on sprite zero in cans when we felt like it.

I can confirm that on the Caribbean Princess Aug 1 sailing, they did not have diet anything except diet coke and soda water on the unlimited soda package .

Hi All,

I am really interested in this thread because I am sailing on the Grand next month from San Francisco, the first time I have sailed on the Princess line. I was considering buying the soft drinks package but I am Diabetic so can only drink light/diet/zero drinks but I get fed up of drinking just diet coke. Being a Brit my first love apart from my wife and beer (some times not sure of the order :) ) is tea, which is sometimes difficult when cruising the other side of the pond.

My question is how does the ADA deal with this in the fact that Coke and Sprite is available on the drinks package but diet Sprite is chargeable.

I have never come across this before so my knowledge on this is zero because when I have cruised RCI and bought a soft drinks package their drinks machines dispense many different diet drinks.

Would the ADA come into force because to me it seems discriminatory, I say this because if an able person can get either Coke or Sprite on the package then why can't a disabled person get either Diet Coke or Diet Sprite without having to pay extra.

Sorry if this is a bit rambling.

Pete

I'd argue that there is no ADA violation taking place. Drinking soda is a preference, a poor nutritional choice at that, not a protected right. I think you are trying to stretch the ADA way beyond the intended purpose of the law.

Even so, Princess does allow for any [reasonable] amount of preferred cans of sodas to be brought on board by guests. And they do provide Diet Coke with the soda package.

The simple solution is to just buy a 12 pack and carry it on. :)

So that covers me to lunch day one, then what?

Buy 3 cases in port before boarding. Slap a luggage tag on each case and it will be delivered to your cabin. :)

So 5 or 6 days covered.

If you plan to drink 72 cans of Diet Sprite in 5 or 6 days you may have a "drinking problem"!

At 12 oz. per can 72 cans is 864 oz. There are 128 oz. in a gallon so that is 6.75 gallons of soda in 5 or 6 days.

I just looked at the Princess site again- after seeing a thread about not being able to buy the soda package. They have removed "diet sprite" from the description. Funny- I wonder if Princess people looked at this discussion!

Too funny! I just got a text from a friend wondering the same thing:p.

I notice that when you look at the package, it says it includes canned Root Beer, has that always been the case? I've never noticed that before, and if it includes canned Root beer, because it is not on the fountain, then why not diet Sprite? I would also prefer diet sprite as I am not a big Coke fan.
