Just seems like you pay for a cruise . . . . one set cost . . . lets say $1500 for a 7 day Caribbean cruise.

Once you factor in Cheers, gratuities, port excursions . . . you've spent that same cost. Just too much for me and DW.

I know when John Heald does his "quickfire questions" on facebook every sunday - there is a person, with John's approval, that does a survey with all the questions. It would be great if the cheers question was asked and also another one asking "how many would purchase cheers if there was a "shared" or "light" option available. Personally, I believe there are many, many people who do not buy cheers because of the "everyone" in the room has to buy policy. But if you could offer a smaller package - I believe the bottom line would definitely go up.

We did Cheers once and thought that it was too restrictive because of the types of drinks that I prefer (I like frozen drinks with floater shots, and also had trouble getting single pours in a doubles glass), so I swore we wouldn't do it again. We always have "Drinks on Us" in the Casino, and DH told me to get it this time. So many people have free drinks in the casino by day 2 at this point, you can spend $100 waiting for a drink sitting at a machine. I'd rather get up and get a drink at the bar, plus this time we're sailing on the Magic instead of the Fantasy so there are more specialty bars.

I know another thread on Cheers but was wondering if anyone knew the percentage of non- cheer users and Cheers users. Would be interesting to know

Carnival certainly knows.

Number of Cheers-buying passengers divided by number of non-Cheers-buying passengers.

We bought it our 1 st Carnival cruise I drank different drinks and drank at least 8-10 drinks per day. This time (end of December) I am buying Baileys/Tia Maria? for room . I am also bringing 2 bottles of wine . Last time I parked the car and my husband checked the suitcase with 2 bottles of champagne. I got a nice letter that said you can not put in checked luggage . This time I am carrying on

I just purchased The Cheers for our upcoming cruise.

(Our 3rd time buying Cheers.) Out of Galveston.

Only charged for 6 days of 7 day cruise. If anyone is wondering. Cheers not available the first day I guess.

I love trying different drinks that I otherwise would not. White Russian after dinner is YUM. And the Chocolate Martini and many more.:p

10 more days.

This really isn't worth it for most people.

You have to have a lot of drinks every day to make it worth while!

There's no way we would have that many drinks on the island days.

I kind of wouldn't say for "most" people. What's worth it for some may not be worth it to others! I think it depends on port days vs. sea days. 5-6 drinks in an entire day isn't much IMO

My 23 year old daughter and I are thinking of trying it. We are doing a graduation trip in May. I graduated May 2015, she will in May of 2016. We are only planning short jaunts off the ship as it is just the two of us. We like are fruity drinks, not sure if we will break even but I don't want to worry about costs and its her trip of dreams!

I know another thread on Cheers but was wondering if anyone knew the percentage of non- cheer users and Cheers users. Would be interesting to know

Do you consider a non-cheers user to be anyone who does not purchase a Cheers program? Or someone who purchases alcohol but does not use Cheers for it? If it is anyone without a Cheers card, that includes kids, and that doesn't seem to useful. Or people like me who didn't buy Cheers but also didn't buy a single alcoholic (or non-alcoholic, actually) drink on their cruise. Which information are you looking to collect?

So, to add to your informal data collection. The group of 4 I just traveled with on a 7-day cruise:

1 purchased 3-5 drinks daily and did not get Cheers.

1 purchased 6-10 beers daily, plus a Bon Voyage whiskey, and did not get Cheers.

1 purchased 2 beers and did not get Cheers.

1 did not purchase any drink during the cruise, and did not get Cheers.
