puppypal7 Posted October 13, 2015 #1 Share Posted October 13, 2015 Ok So I pre paid my tips...I ended up getting bottomless buddies...If hubby buys a beer is tip included in the price or do we need to tip etc...? nchikk Posted October 13, 2015 #2 Share Posted October 13, 2015 (edited) Prepaid tips go to wait staff, cabin steward and some support staff. When purchasing individual drinks, a gratuity is added. Bottomless bubbles is for sodas, not beer. Edited October 13, 2015 by nchikk
Jenhem31 Posted October 13, 2015 #3 Share Posted October 13, 2015 I believe it's included in the package but we always tip a dollar when we get a drink
puppypal7 Posted October 13, 2015 Author #4 Share Posted October 13, 2015 I am not a cheap type or anything ...I just read someone that like corona beer costs like 4.95 plus 15% tip. Meaning the beer will really cost like 5.65 around ...just wondered if that was correct. And if the server gets that 15% of every drink served.. Also I have a 7 day cruise and I am trying to budget it correctly. I prepaid the tips via cruise payments, I want to be able to budget extra funds for the great servers and stewards. I used to waitress and understand. We will be paying as you go on beer and wine. Bottomless bubbles is for my sprite addiction. Lol

Lol The cruise line will automatically add a 15% tip to your dh's beer. $4.95 plus 15%. When you bought your bottomless bubbles, a 15% tip was added to that. It does add up fast and I completely understand.
jamscckmc Posted October 14, 2015 #6 Share Posted October 14, 2015 The 15% added service charge goes to the pool not the individual waiter. You don't need to tip extra but cash is appreciated. I bring a lot of $1 bills and instead of adding an extra gratuity to the check (which also goes to the pool) I give a single with each drink or round of drinks. They get to keep it and you will get great service(not that the service isn't great to start with)

You will have an on-board account to which all your purchases will be charged. There is no option to make any purchase with cash. The only way you will be able to "pay as you go" would be to purchase a drink and go to Guest Services and pay that amount to your Sail & Sign account. After doing that once or twice, I guarantee you will not want to do that again. The casino will accept cash for table games and tournaments, but that's it. Cash may be used to tip anyone you see fit. If you're concerned about your spending, just keep your receipts and keep track of the amount that way. Some ships will also allow you to view your account on the tv in your cabin. And for feeding your addiction, you will be charged a 15% gratuity when you purchase the plan, but not be charged a gratuity with each soda you get. Sorry if I did not make myself very clear..I believe in tipping for good service. Now I understand the 15% goes into the pot as such. I will carry a lot of singles for good servers. I just want to rewad a great server personally
cb at sea Posted October 14, 2015 #11 Share Posted October 14, 2015 (edited) There is a place to sign for an additional tip, so you don't need to carry cash around the ship with you. I think 15% is ample for opening a beer....maybe add another $.50 if you get a mixed drink foo-foo drink. Tips are pooled from the packages, but YOU'RE still tipping the suggested amount and the servers are getting what they're supposed to...
