Enchantment of the Seas - Quick Photo Review

Recommended Posts

I was on the January 15 sailing of Enchantment of the Seas and after reading some reviews on other ships, I decided to write my own. I have a few pictures I took with my phone, nothing spectacular, but I figured I'd add them in case anyone wants to see them.

A little background on me: This was my 12th cruise, 7th on RCCL. I have also done 3 Carnival and 2 Disney cruises. Royal is by far my favorite cruise line I have tried so far! I am 19 years old and a college student from Florida! I just moved to the Tampa Bay area from Atlanta, and I'm happy I am a lot closer to the Florida cruise ports now because that means more cruises! :)

I went on this cruise with my mom and a family friend, we had an oceanview room on the second floor. Overall, not bad. There were some spots here and there that could have used extra attention while cleaning and the window could have been better (the inside was rusty) but nothing that ever made the room feel dirty or gross. We were only on a 3 night cruise and we don't spend much time in the room anyways, so no major complaints there.

Backtracking a little, the embarkation process for this ship was probably the best I've ever experienced! We went from our car to being on the ship in under 10 minutes! Had it not been for the slow couple in front of us at the security check point, it probably would have been 5 minutes total from car to ship.

We were onboard around 11:30 and went straight for the windjammer for lunch.

While walking along the pool deck I found these awesome spots off to the side that had glass bottom floors, really cool. I believe they were on the portside but I'm not 100% sure.

On our way to the Windjammer, we made a quick stop on deck 10 to take a few pictures. It had been raining all morning so I wanted to get a few pictures before the rain returned (and it did.)

At the windjammer I had a cheeseburger, fries, some noodles, and a famous coconut ranger cookie. All were great! I've gotten a cheeseburger at the Windjammer on embarkation day every Royal Caribbean cruise I've been on, it's kind of my own tradition haha. After lunch, my mom and I went down to the centrum to meet up with our friend we would be cruising with. My mom also bought her drink package and we made reservations at Chops for that night. It was raining for most of the day but it cleared up around sailaway, so we were up on the pool deck to watch us leave from Port Canaveral.

More to come (:

Thanks everyone! To those going on Enchantment, you'll love it!

After sail away, we went back to our cabin to get ready for our dinner at Chops. On our way to Chops we made a quick pit stop in the Casino so I could play a couple slots. It was my first time cruising since turning 18, so I was really looking forward to this.

My first cashout ticket!

Now onto Chops. I can't remember our waiter's name but he was excellent! For an appetizer I ordered the Crispy Goat Cheese Salad. I'm not a huge fan of salads but the crispy goat cheese is what drew me in. Having said that, this salad did not disappoint. SO GOOD. I don't know if it was the cheese, the apple, the balsamic, or all of it together, but this ranks up there for one of the best salads I've ever had. I forgot to get a picture of it, but trust me when I say how good it is. I'm not a big steak person (I have to have it cooked well done if I do eat it, so I normally don't order it) so I got the Roasted Organic Chicken. Again, SO GOOD. The chicken was cooked perfectly and was very moist on the inside. It came with a delicious truffled chicken jus which was amazing. I ate every bit of it. My mom and friend both had the three cheese roasted onion soup and filets. They loved both of them, as the filets were cooked perfectly for them. For our side dishes we ordered the mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, and Gruyere tater tots. The mashed potatoes were good, and I did not try the spinach, but those tater tots...man they were good. They were probably the best thing I ate the entire cruise. My mom and friend loved them so much they joked about going back to Chops later in the cruise and just ordering the tater tots. For desert I ordered the red velvet cake, our family friend ordered the mississippi mud pie, and I cannot remember what my mom got, I just remember it was something different from what we ordered and it was chocolate. We loved all of the deserts! It's safe to say this meal at Chops was one of the best we've ever had and best meal we had on the ship. I was very happy to have a good meal here since I had only had Chops one other time on Allure of the Seas and I was not that impressed.

I remembered halfway through eating to get a picture of my chicken.

Here you can see our sides, including the amazing tater tots.

I wish I had taken a picture of my cake but I was so excited to try it, I forgot.

The rest of the night we hung out in the casino, watched a little karaoke, and then went to bed.

On day 2, we were docked in Nassau, Bahamas from around noon until midnight! Before docking, we hung out on the pool deck people watching and eating ice cream. Once we got closer and could see land, my mom and I went up onto deck 10 to watch us pull into port. I've been to Nassau plenty of times, most of the time we don't even get off the ship anymore, but this time I wanted to go to senor Frogs, so my mom and I got off the ship for a few drinks.

Drinks at Senor Frogs! Mom got a mudslide (which was yummy) and I got a jell-o shot and Mango Daiquiri, both very good.

If you are looking for a fun place to eat, get drinks, or simply just hang out, Senor Frogs is the way to go. It always has that spring break party vibe and is about a 10 minute walk from the ship. After our drinks, we went back to the ship for a nap before dinner. I remember what I had for dinner, I just can't remember what night I had what so my apologies. For appetizers I had the srawberry bisque and oakwood smoked chicken breast. Both were delicious. I could drink the bisque as a smoothie and eat the chicken breast for a main entree! For my main entrees I had the artichoke crepes and chicken marsala. The crepes were ok. I ordered them because I wanted to try something new and different. The flavor itself was actually quite good, it was just the texture that threw me off. I think maybe the crepes were not fully cooked, but it's OK, they were still good and I still ate them. I just probably won't order them again. The chicken marsala was good, but of course it wasn't like a regular marsala I would order at my local Italian restaurant. I would order it again. For dessert I had the strawberry cheesecake and dessert sampler. Both were very very good.

The dessert sampler was awesome!

After dinner on Night 2, we went to the Casino (of course) and played on the slots for a while. That night there was a big 70's/80's party in the centrum, which was really fun! They played great music, had great dancing, and the cruise director's staff was awesome! A big shout out to Isaac, he was hilarious and my mom and I always looked forward to what he would do next. Later that night, we went up to grab a couple of snacks from the Park Cafe in the solarium. After that, we went to check out the party happening on the pool deck. There wasn't too many people there so we called it a night and went to bed.

Now on Day 3, we were supposed to go to CoCo Cay, but we had to miss it due to weather. I've been on 2 cruises that were supposed to stop there but never have. Will I ever make it to CoCo Cay? Who knows?

Missing this port didn't really upset me too much, as we were on the cruise more for the ship than any other reason. The weather on this day was awful, it was very windy, kind of chilly, and rainy the whole day. It was so windy people were not allowed up on deck 10 nor were the allowed outside on deck 5. This didn't bother me at all, the weather wasn't even good enough to be outside. So our last day was spent watching a little bit of the NFL playoffs in Boleros, playing several trivia games, and pushing our luck on the slots in the casino. That night we went to the love and marriage game show, which was hilarious as always. After that, we went back to our stateroom, packed, and went to bed.

Day 4 was the worst day....since we had to get off the ship. My mom and I took our own luggage off the ship and then she drove me back to Orlando so I could return to college.

In summary:

  • Great food on the ship! I wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was since I had seen many negative reviews on the food particularly on this ship.
  • Eat at Chops if you can, and order the tater tots as a side.
  • Fun activities all around the ship
  • Nice stateroom (only complaint would be the few areas that needed extra attention and the dreaded shower curtain in the bathroom)

Also, a couple of tips:

A lot of people were saying there's no where to get pizza on the ship, but that isn't true. We always found pizza in the Park Cafe at night.

It took us a while to find the ice cream, you can find it on deck 9 (pool deck), on the right side, behind the movie screen. On the first day they only had vanilla and strawberry but they had vanilla and chocolate the second day.

A lot of people suggest boarding the ship around 2 to avoid lines. I disagree with this, we got to the port around 11, had no problems parking nor did we ever encounter any lines.

Be aware of some of the music in centrum. When I was onboard, the music was not censored and I could clearly hear things like "everybody put your motherf****ing hands up" I'm not sure if they changed it, but if you are traveling with small kids, just a heads up!

Karaoke was so much fun to watch! I wish we had gone more, so if you are looking for something to do, check to see if karaoke is going on!

I have some more miscellaneous pictures I'll post next!

Parade of flags in the Centrum, cool to watch.

And that just about wraps it up, if anyone has any questions about the ship, I can try my best to answer them!

Great review and great pictures! Thanks!

I do have a question-did they let the kids go in the Solarium pool since the weather wasn't all that? I have read that that pool is for guests 16 and up, but if the weather is crummy they will open it to the kids.

Yup! There were kids under 16 in the solarium pool.

Thans for the review! Who did you have as cruise director? Do you recall?

I can't remember his name, but I do know it wasn't Enchantment's usual CD Marc. I've looked everywhere, even on the RC website but he is nowhere to be found! He was pretty good though! I didn't see him around the ship too much, I think our sailing might have been his first one being CD but don't quote me on that, I'm not 100% sure. He hosted the Love and Marriage show and did a pretty good job with it!

It was probably Topi. He was our CD in December

Glad to hear that you had a fantastic time. We're getting excited for our trip in two weeks. I think (based on what you posted) we're going to give Chops another try - as we had sworn it off after our last Freedom cruise. Thanks for all of your pictures as well!

You should definitely try it! We were unsure of how good it would be after being disappointed on Allure, but we had OBC to use so we used it to go to Chops. It was well worth it!

Yes, that's his name! Thank you!
