pickles&peppers Posted February 18, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 18, 2016 Today, Feb 18, DH received a text from Citi Bank stating that he had just withdrawn $330 at a NYC location. Fortunately, he read the text and immediately contacted the bank to cancel any transactions. Unknowingly, my husband's Wells Fargo debit card was "skimmed" at Cape Liberty sometime between Feb 6 and Feb 10 2016. Wells Fargo has contacted our other credit cards to warn them of possible unauthorized activity. According to Wells Fargo this has occurred several times at Cape Liberty. I'm sure that Cape Liberty is not the only public space that has this kind of illegal activity. Just a word to the wise, secure your personal information and electronic cards. Nhsaltshaker Posted February 19, 2016 #3 Share Posted February 19, 2016 (edited) I see you traveled in 2013. Are you saying they skimmed it three years ago and are now trying to charge your card? Edited February 19, 2016 by Nhsaltshaker
Rare Keith1010 Posted February 19, 2016 #4 Share Posted February 19, 2016 Was this due to a purchase or at an ATM? Keith
KirkNC Posted February 19, 2016 #5 Share Posted February 19, 2016 Unfortunately this happens a lot. Good news is the most you can lose is $50, the bank is liable for the rest.

navybankerteacher Posted February 20, 2016 #7 Share Posted February 20, 2016 We didn't use an ATM or our charge cards in the port.:mad: How do you ( or Wells Fargo) know that the skimming took place at Port Liberty? - it's one thing to know that the charge was put through at some NY location - but identifying location where skimming ( but apparently no transaction) took place ????? pickles&peppers Posted February 20, 2016 Author #8 Share Posted February 20, 2016 "According to Wells Fargo this has occurred several times at Cape Liberty. " Perhaps Wells Fargo noted a trend, they did not elaborate.
